I was perusing Oprah's site today (I'm a huge fan and have so much respect for her), and I came across this whole section about "Spirit and Self", living your passion, changing your life, etc.
The above link has a list of questions which on the surface seem easy enough to answer. They aren't. At least for me they aren't.
On one page one of the writers asks:
"Quick! Finish this sentence: 'I am a _________.' "
How we define ourselves is a very important key to living the life each of us was meant for.
Another page suggests, "Write a letter to yourself that begins with: 'If I could reclaim my life, I would...' "
I think that's a vitally important exercise. Here we all are, enmeshed in this process of ours. So many people in this world don't get second chances to reclaim their lives. We are extremely lucky to be where we are.
Our lives are changing; they will change. After we settle into our new lives some of us may move, we may change jobs, we may end or begin relationships, life may get more complicated in some ways, and it will definitely get easier in many others.
I'm posting this today because I came across this today. But this may be something to come back to, as we focus on the near future, surgery, healing, rebuilding our health. But certainly for me these are things that are right in the forefront of my mind, right alongside this surgery. Like everyone says, surgery is a tool. Asking hard questions of ourselves is another tool that will help us live the lives of our dreams and the dreams of our lives.
I wish each of you the deepest success on the gift of this journey.
Love,
Katarina
And one of the most profound questions of all, "What would you attempt to do in your life if you knew you could not fail?"
Dare to dream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Katarina...
What a GREAT post. Not at all 'bold' (I was expecting something more, oh, I dunno, critique-ish?). I'm gonna hit that link tomorrow (gotta get to bed real soon here).
AND...I have a pewter paperweight on my desk at work that says the "...if you knew you could not fail..." lamentation. It was a gift from a dear friend.
T'anx for the thought-provokers. These are things we all need to figure out.
