WOW!! Am I going to be busy!
Man O Man!! I just got my preop testing list!! Holy Moly!! Do I have a lot to do!! I start March 1st and it doesn't stop until surgery March 23 --
Echocardiogram, pulmonary function test, pulmonologist visit, psych exam (don't know if I'll pass that one), lower extremity ultrasound (with ROB, hope he's cute) PreOp Lab, EKG, Chest x-ray, Preop Consult with Doc. Then if needed, a sleep study. They said n/a on the EGD (required if hx of ulcers or reflux)need to call Holly, I don't know if they made a mistake or if I don't need it since I had one last March (I have ulcers, duodenal ulcers, hiatal hernia, reflux, erythema of the esophagus, and on and on). I really don't mind not having to do it, just don't want something to go wrong. Ya Know?!
Is this necessary or are they just trying to keep us busy until the day??? It helps meet my deductable at least!!!
Whitney
I had my sleep study before I submitted my packet to insurance. It helped me get insurance approval. One round of blood tests, along with hemoccult had to be done before my consult. The rest (nutritional blood analysis, ekg, chest exray) were done at the hospital all at once. I'm DONE!!!
And the only pre-op diet restriction is clear liquids the day before surgery and nothing after midnight. Not bad at all!

WOW! I wish I had something to keep me busy! I had to have all my testing (everything your having) done before they put in for approval and gave me a date. I had most of my testing in August 03' and one in Sept and Oct. Finally on Nov 4th I got my approval and surgery date...Been waiting along time. So glad is finally almost here! I wish you the best of luck and hope all goes well!

25 days and a wake up!
Hey Whitney,
Yes girl...you are going to be busy. I've had everything done except the pre-op blood work by the hospital, that's this Thursday. I begin my pre-op diet Saturday, then have an appointment to see my doc again on the Friday before surgery on the 2nd. The Pulmonary test and the psych eval are no big deal at all. The Echocardiogram was really cool, they let me watch. One angle they acheived looked like someone banging on a piano. no I'm not kidding!!!
My doc didn't order the lower extremity doppler or ultrasound for me, so can't help you there. No sleep study either, I had enough co-morbidities without needing that to add to the paperwork.
Have fun,

Yup, Whit, Darlin'...
Sounds like you're gonna be REAL busy! BUT...it'll speed you along to your date! (There's the perpetual optimist in me rearing it's optimistic head again...hehehe...)
Fortunately, I'd had 99% of my stuff done when I walked in to my first consultation, so I just handed it to them and they said "Great!". I still had to have some stuff done, but not a lot by comparison. They just did a repeat EKG on Friday at my anesthesiologist's consult...that's where they found my atrium is enlarged. Every time I go for another frickin' test they find something else wrong...this does NOT make me happy!! But...the good part is that everything they've found wrong will be 'abated' by my WLS. So see...there's good to be found in everything, and much of the pre-op labs are proving their weight in deductibles!!
Hang in there, Whit. It only gets busier from here. Then you'll be on SERIOUS LAY-BACK for several weeks after surgery...DAT is da part I'm looking forward to!
