I am so envious

I am so envious of the prevalence of surgeons available in the states. I have been waiting here in Canada for a year now(I think we have only about 9 active doctors nationally doing bariatric surgery). I was suppose to be done in December and here I wait oh so not impatiently. It will probably be another 3 or 4 months. Wish I could just self pay and head south. What is it with us that displaces out patience in times like this? Please be greatful that your wait times in the States are nothing like in Canada!

If it makes you feel any better, I had to wait sixteen months, and am almost there -- I have two weeks to go until my surgery. My wait wasn't for a surgeon -- it was waiting and fighting for approval to have the WLS. Still, a wait is a wait, and it isn't easy, huh? My prayers are with you for a speedy and safe surgery! Tammy

Lots of people in The States have waited well over a year if not longer due to insurance... or other concerns beyond their control.. Some people never get the surgery at all... Hang in there!!!!!

Thanks for the word of support. We are lucky up here to have provincial health coverage and not have to fight the individual companies. Although the health plan here will not cover us going south. In my case I guess I am fortunate in knowing that I will eventually have it done even if the doctors are again talking about striking in June again. To those of you waiting for pesky insurance companies to approve your WLS- I wish you a quick resolution!
