I'm scared... scared..... scared.....
okay, the more I think about my date coming up, the more scared I am getting -- I've had serious complications from a botched gall bladder surgery five years ago, and I am more than a little afraid of what might happen....
I know that not having the surgery is not any less risky, but I just need some support right now!!!
thanks everyone here is so wonderful!!!
Tammy,
I know that analyzing your fears from the side of logic will not calm your ragged nerves. But I must say that this surgery has come a long way in the past three years. It has come a great distance in the last six months. We live in an age of technology that would seem impossible to our great grandparents.
You'll be OK! Many prayers and good thoughts will be going up for you on your day.
Your surgeon is skilled, the techs well trained and the nurses compassionate.
Happy thoughts,
Va
Hi Tammy
You are talking of being scared. IF you dont do this you can have real problems. IF I had talked to people I might not have gone through all of the things that I have gone through. Had a heart attack with my youngest son by my side he was very upset. He had to go to the hospital with me had to wait for my family to get there. My husband a truck driver out of the state. It was really hard on everyone . But have faith!!!!!!!!! Everything will be ok. Things could be worse.
Good Luck
Dianna
Tammy...
Are you using the same surgeon that did your gall bladder surgery?
(Do ya see where I'm going here?)
You're entitled to have some concerns. But let those out and LEAVE them out. Get it out of your system. Then change your thoughts (you CAN control your thoughts!) and point them in the direction of all the benefits you're going to have from WLS, how you're going to feel this summer, what kind of clothes you'll be wearing at Christmas, and on and on. Start concentrating on what you need to gather up in supplies before surgery, what you need to do to prepare for your family while you're in the hospital - turn your thoughts to abstract things, not feelings. Once you lay your emotional involvement aside for a bit and look at the 'academic' side of this, you'll slide along a lot easier. You're going to be FINE...we ALL are!
Now, go make a list of what you have to pick up at the grocery store for the first two post-op weeks...

Hang on Tammy,
You're gonna do great. It's normal to have some fears -- just don't let them get too out of hand. Just remember that God is on your side and He will get you through it. For every negative thought force yourself to think of a positive one. Pretty soon, you'll see that the positive ones a more than the negatives that you can think of and you'll know you made the right choice. And keep right on coming to us we are all in it together.
Love Ya,
Whtiney
Tammy, GIRLFRIEND!!! Remember? We are doing this together! If I can get through this, you can! Tell you what... I'll go first, and you come along the next day, OK? I promise I will come visit you ... and drag your sore body out of bed!!!
I went to my consult today. Dr B definitely has his act together. He way over-cautious, which is exactly why we picked him. We are going to be fine!
