I'm an Addict!!!

Hi Whitney, I was the same way when I first got AOL in 1997. I mean, I got so bad that I was on about 18 hours a day! I had a flexible job (obviously), but my work suffered anyway. I didn't ever want to sleep! It took a few months, but I finally settled down. I think it probably has a lot to do with the same facet of our personalities that got us "here", you know? I mean, you know it's addictive when you keep eating past the point of being full, you know you should stop, and yet you don't. I am trying to create a more moderate life for myself. It's difficult because I get in these phases where I'm a mile a minute, super-focused (sometimes on the wrong things) and then on the other hand I have a hard time finishing things. Moderation is not my forte, but I'm trying! Katarina P.S. And I don't think there's anything wrong with getting a little hooked on knowledge. There's a lot to learn about this whole process!

Hey, hire a maid or housekeeper or nanny! That'd leave you more time to "play"!! I've been in the 'puter industry since the late '80s, so up until recently (when I met YOUSE GUYSES ), 'puters were nothing more than a necessary evil in my life. I have two at home, side by side, and I'd go months without logging on at home. But now, if I don't check in on this board at least daily (like last nite...got home too late and had to get to bed), I'm not a happy camper. Just gotta see what's popping with The Marchers! I was a pretty notorious CoSysOp for about a dozen "bulletin boards" throughout the midwest (if there's anyone out there who was there then, I'm "DSIS Wench"...she lives! she lives!!! ). This was long before the Internet was even a DREAM...back in the days of "2400 baud modems". Sheesh. Besides the fun that was had, I also had SysOp duties to do on a daily basis. With the lack of quality technology back then, this sometimes took HOURS to do. I usually went to work the next day suffering with what we termed as "The Red Eye Syndrome" - bloodshot, scratchy eyes and headaches from being in front of a monitor for hours at a time. A few years ago I figured I needed new glasses...went from simple "driving/reading" glasses to TRI-FOCALS in one hop. This is from all the 'puter work I've done for the past two decades (cheez...THAT makes me feel old!!). So...yes, you're "certifiable". We all are!
