Surgery Type Roll Call

I'm curious...Would everyone chime in and let everyone know what kind of surgery your having. RnY - Open or Laparoscopic VBG BP/DS etc I know it says by our names what we're having and from what I've seen most are having RNY but now there are at least two types of RNY. The recovery time and prep appears to be quite different as well. I'm having Rny - Laparoscopic - March 2 Va

Va, I know that I'm having RNY, but, don't know if it'll be lap or open, et****il I meet with Dr. Pearce. I haven't received my preop pack yet with all my appointment dates so I don't know when I'll be seeing him yet (Holly, where's my pack -- I check the mail hopefully everyday!!!) whitney

Hey Whitney, I don't know if it will work for you but...I didn't wait for the mail to come. I told My Doc's office to hold my paperwork, and to give me a buzz when it was ready, then I went and picked it up personally. I'd rather spend a couple extra bucks for gas than to wait day after day for the mail to NOT deliver the packet. I did that for all of my consults too. Just a thought. Va

Thanks Va, I think I'll give Holly and call and see if she has sent it yet, if not, I'll go pick it up tomorrow I'm going nuts waiting on it to come. Besides, I have other things I need to schedule and need to know when I need to be where. Whitney

Hey, Katarina... I had a Lap Cholecystectomy (gall bladder out) in '96, and my surgeon doesn't think there'll be any problems with my Lap RNY, even with the possible adhesions/strictures from the Chole... Just an FYI (my surgeon is a general surgeon, tho - not strictly a bariatric surgeon...only 40% of his practice is bariatrics).
