Have you EVER lost 20 lbs in a month?

Most of us know well the discouragement that comes from dieting with little or no payoff showing up in weight loss. I just read some posts on the Jan board from people that are about 4 weeks postop. EVERY ONE that posted had lost 20-30 pounds, and EVERY ONE of them was discouraged that it was not faster or that it seemed to have stopped if the scales did not move down for a few days in a row. Lessons to us: Let's try very hard to set rational goals for ourselves. This IS going to work for us, but not all at once! Weight loss is never a straight line progression. Be sure to measure inches as well as pounds. Sometimes the period between weight losses is when the inches come off. Plan now for what you will do when you hit a plateau, because you will. For me, I will be pleased a*****h to be FOREVER rid of 20 lbs by 4/1. When I seem to stall, I plan to increase water and protein and exercise. When I forget all of this in early April, someone please find this post and rub my nose in it!! What are your expectations and contingency plans? Joy (3/1)

when my dh had his surgery, he lost 75 lbs. in four weeks... that was an awesome amount! I will be glad to lose ten pounds... I know it will be more than that, but I am not going to let myself get worked up over it if it seems slower than I think it should be. I know this surgery works, and I know it will eventually come off.

Let's see - 20 pounds in a month? I think I'd be jumping on and off the scales 20 x to make sure that I read it right! I'd be pleased a*****h! I too plan on changing out my exercise routine and upping the water and protein when I hit a plateau. I say all this now and when it does happen, I'll be one of those poor souls who is on here complaining. So be ready for a little hand holding. Whitney (3/23)

I'm considered a 'lightweight' (NEVER in my LIFE been called THAT!), and have been told not to expect to drop pounds like everyone else, that for me it won't work that way. Not a problem. Although I'm gonna fight like the dickens to do better, I'll be happy to be down 20 by the end of summer! I'm sure I'll get a bit bummed hearing of everyone else's successes and knowing that, once again, I'm 'different' and can't expect to have what everyone else has. But I'm STILL gonna be incredibly grateful that I'm LOSING IT PERMANENTLY!!! Nah, don't need to rub your nose in anything, our Joyful one! May just need to slap yer noggin a bit and get your eyes pointed in the right direction again. Oh, BTW... Yup, I actually lost around 160 lbs in one month. That was when I divorced my husband. Problem is, THAT weight just kept coming back, disappearing again, and yo-yo-ing...to this day. Wonder if there's a "WLS" that would get "it" gone FOR GOOD... (Altho he owes me $500 and a new lawn mower, so I think that 160 will be gone for at LEAST a few years...men: can't live with 'em, can't kill 'em...) Hello Joy! I wouldn't mind losing 20 pounds a month! That would bring me past my first goal of being 200 pounds by July 15th (my 25th B-day)! I am also considered a "lightweight" So its possible I may lose slower, BUT, I have met SO MANY PEOPLE that were also considered "lightweights" and lost weight real quick. A lot of them losing 100 lb. by 6 and 7 months. My cousin Had her surgery on Nov 3rd and Is down just about 80 lb. already. I'm hoping to lose quickly, but if I don't I'll be happy just knowing that I'm losing. Ya, I might get a bit mad here and there but that's to be expected...We'll see what happens. Kelley 29 Days and a WAKE UP!

Hey Ya'll, Isn't that funny I'm a lightweight too!! We'll just have to keep eachother marching along to our own beat!! I don't really care how long it takes just so it keeps on coming off and I see myself shrinking instead of growing!!! My first goal, to be smaller than I was when I got married on my 11th anniversary! Whitney
