I'm a patient of Ronnie Keith in Oklahoma City, and I'm now scheduled for RNY on March 2. I'm scheduled to attend orientation on Feb 19 and begin my pre-op diet that day. I'm now doing my Happy Dance. Va

My doc says no diet carbonated soft drinks FOREVER because the bubbles tend to expand and stretch the pouch. I don't know who to believe there, but I would at least be very cautious about that during the first few weeks until you are fully healed. Especially that first week, you dont want to put any pressure on the new connections in your plumbing until the glue has time to set up!! Joy (3/1)

Hey Joy, This is the pre-op diet, not post op. My dietician says the same thing, I have to give up my Sour Watermelon Burst drinks from Wal-mart. They have carbonated water in them....Boohoo..... Va 3/2 P.S. My mom's name was Joy. Very, very special lady, passed away this past September.

OOps! Duh! I read your post on the recent view and did not see the question. Sorry about that! I guess I am sensitive, because I already gave up my diet Dr Pepper and I already miss it!!!! Joy (3/1)

Hey girl, No problem! I'm trying to decide if I will miss my favorite beverage enough to drink it flat! Still pondering that one. Have a good one, Va

Hey Whitney, The pre-op diet starts 10 pre-op. It prepares your body for the surgery. My doc says that this specific diet encourages the body to shed the fat stores around the liver. That is the general area where he'll be doing most of his work. Thin it out a bit and he has a better view. If your surgery is the 23rd then you'll start your pre-op diet on the 13th. But every doc is different, so let them tell you when and what. Va
