I'm a POD PERSON already!! Oh no!

I've been doing things now that I'm gonna have to do after surgery in order to "get used" to them. For instance, I've totally given up pop and have switched to SF KoolAid, Iced Botanicals, Propel and Fruit-2-0 to drink (I'm an avid drinker, always have something to drink with me). I'm buying "lite" yogurt instead of 'regular' yogurt, etc. I'm just doing some simple behavioral modification to get myself going and in the mindset, ya know? Not a problem! But I've been making SF KoolAid with the "old" kind of KoolAid, the kind where you add sugar, or in my case, Splenda...I have to used Splenda 'cuz I'm allergic to Aspartame (yeah, yeah, I'm one work of art, I know, I know...). Splenda KoolAid is WONDERFUL stuff! I hope that whomever discovered Splenda is a bazillionaire, 'cuz they sure saved MY life! (They're probably related to whomever created "handle gift bags"...another life saver!) Well, that was becoming a bit costly, I was going thru a bag of Splenda every few days at one cup of Splenda per pkg of KoolAid. At ~$7/bag, dat KoolAid wuz gittin' pricey! So don't I open the cupboard to grab another packet of KoolAid, and out of the corner of my eye I see "real" sugar. Not the cheap sugar, mind you, but "Bakers" sugar: I've always used it 'cuz it's finer and dissolves better, just a little bit more expensive but well worth it. I'm thinking "well, I'd better get rid of the real stuff 'cuz the fake stuff will be here peramently all too soon..." and I mix up a brew of KoolAid with REAL sugar. OMG...it was so frickin' SWEET I could barely drink it! I actually had to grab another pitcher, another packet of KoolAid and dilute the stuff! I'm scared! I'm very scared! The Body Snatchers have come, and I'm a POD PERSON!! I've NEVER found ANYTHING to be "too sweet" until now! I've read where after RNY, your tastes change so much that things you used to love may taste like "poochka" to you after RNY. IT'S ALREADY HAPPENING!! HOW DID THE BODY SNATCHERS GET INTO MY HOUSE?!?!? We're going to be making all KINDS of 'discoveries' after we have our surgeries, but it just stunned me a bit that it's ALREADY happening to me now. Anyone else "discovering" stuff like that already? Kimmer Queen of the "Niners" , Princess of the Pod People

HELLO! I too have switched a lot of things...I was completely weaned off Diet coke until they came out with diet coke w/ lime, Now I'm hooked...So far I haven't had any today, so that's good. But there is 3 bottles of it in the fridge. For the past 2 weeks I've been making sure that I get at least 64oz of water in. Its pricey, cause I WON'T drink Tap water and CAN'T drink water out of a cup, so I spend 9.00 on 24 pack of Poland springs water and it only lasts me 6 days... I've also been drinking lots of SF kool-aid, SF tang, SF country time lemonade and crystal lite. Good thing I like them all. Luckily I have no allergies to aspartame...So I buy the SF kool-aid for 2.69 and its comes with 5 packets. No sugar needs to be added. Same with the other mixes I buy. I've also not been snacking on bad foods(besides the day I fought with the pringles). I now snack on beef jerky and fruits... I never knew I liked beef jerky, I also thought it looked NASTY, But I finally tried it a couple of weeks ago and I'm hooked to the teriyaki flavor! 98% fat free and LOADED with protein! Yummy! So anyway, I'm still trying to stay "good" and make the right food choices. Now If I could only get rid of the scale I'd be happy. I'm on the damn thing EVERY morning ISSUES, ISSUES, ISSUES, I know! I, too, am trying to be "good". I'm actually very proud of myself at the amount of junk I have actually turned down at work this week. My favorite drinks are water and plain iced tea, so the drinking stuff is not a problem here. I would definitely advise investing in a Brita filter. I despise tap water! We bought a 2 gallon Brita dispenser that we keep in the fridge for nice cold water any time. I also save water bottles and just fill those for when we are going somewhere. I swear that is one investment that has saved us tons and the water tasts just as good as bottled I also like to "jazz" up my water occasionally... small slices of green apples and cucumber is my all time favorite. Though, I think the body snatchers have been here as well... the last two times I ate chocolate I got THE WORST heartburn/reflux ever How can my all time comfort food now make me I guess it's good, but evil... Oh, no! Not You, too!! My water here is MOST excellent. I live ON a lake IN the "lakes" area of the northern suburbs of Detroit - all the roads in this area contour the lakes, not a single one goes a straight east/west or north/south. But the township I actually LIVE in, Waterford, has our own self-contained water system (all the other 'burbs have Detroi****er...). Way back about 26/27 years ago now, I remember the millage vote that was for an astronomical amount of money for a state-of-the-ar****er purification/softening system for our 16 community wells in Waterford...I voted yes, not realizing that 'good water' would some day be an oxymoron. Well, we're about the only ones in this area whose water quality results are given quarterly and WE KICK BUTT. But I STILL have a problem drinking water from the faucet. I have a PUR filter on my sink, but I still don't like it. I have flats of bottled water awaiting me post-op. Water is the ONLY thing I drink at work (started that 5 years ago...). But I've become really fond of Iced Botanicals, Propel, Pulse and Fruit-2-0. They all have added nutrients in 'em too, which doesn't hurt! The only reason I have KoolAid here is 'cuz I'm allergic to aspartame and had to figure out a "jello" recipe for the 2 weeks post-op I'll be on clear fluids, and figured (correctly ) that I could brew up something with the old type of KoolAid (where ya add your own sugar) and Splenda. I was just kinda astounded that sugar was WAY TOO sweet...I can hardly wait to find more revelations as time passes...with my luck, I'll probably end up being allergic to protein or something...
