Hello!! I can't believe how quickly my life is changing...I was approved so quickly and have my surgery scheduled for MARCH 1!! I see that I share the March 1st date with a few others. As you all can relate, I too am feeling so many different emotions. I have to say that "EXCITED" seems to be the most prevalent emotion. I am noticing that most of you are having the RNY. My surgeon wants us to choose our surgery...which has been a bit difficult to do. There is so much to research and learn! I started out wanting the DS but have since changed to the VBG with Sleeve Gastrectomy. I have been doing a lot of praying and sure hope I am choosing the best surgery for me and my lifestyle. I wish you all the best of luck! It's so nice to know that support is only a click away! Kristin

Welcome to the "Marchers", Kristin! You're one of the canaries, of which Joy-ful (Cook) Canary is The Chief Canary In Charge. I myself am a "Niner", but we're all "Marchers" together! Kim

WOW! Another March 1-er!! Welcome to the club! One factor you may not have considered in choosing your surgery is your doctor's experience with each. I would ask how many of each he has done and what his complication rate for each has been. There is a large variation between doctors, usually relating to their experience level with the procedure they are doing. No matter what the national outcome is, it is your doctor's success rate that is most important to you. Just my angle, which is a bit different than you can find in internet research on the various procedures. Good luck! Whatever you decide will be right for you! We will be comparing notes for months to come! Joy "Canary" (3/1)

Dr. Elariny is such an awesome surgeon. He has done over 700 weight loss surgeries with only a few minor complications. He lets you choose from all of the surgeries and even lets you choose from 6 different hospitals. He truly tries to make this the best experience for his patients! At his discussion/forum meeting, he thoroughly discussed each surgery. I chose the VBG w/sleeve after talking with the dietitian as well. I am looking at my info and diagrams of all of the surgeries now. Are most of you having the Proximal RNY Gastric Bypass? I am just trying to understand. With both surgeries, we end up with a small pouch instead of the ones we currently have. Thanks for your support. Counting down the days! Kristin
