"March Niners" - March 9th surgeries
Nine...nineteen...close enough! Welcome to "Da Niners"!
(Niners' Happy Dance...we're growing...)
Yup, as much as I still have to do (how could I have EVER had this done next week...sheesh!!), I wi**** were tomorrow instead of on the 9th. But we may as well have some fun with the anxiety, right?
And, as Kelly so aptly stated it, "March Rules!"
Welcome, welcome!
I didn't have a BIT of nerves 'til last nite: got my PATs done at my PCP's office, and I felt a little twinge of "OMG, this is really happ'nin'!" I don't think it was nerves so much as excitement, like "let's get this on the ROAD already!!" Dunno...we'll see when that last week prior to being re-plumbed hits...

Yep, you're all a complete bunch of losers...ROFL....Protein Shakes.....YUCK. I think I'l just go out and have another steak. At least while I'm able too. This thread is fun, because I know I'm at least one step ahead of the bunch of you. My DS Surgery date is March 8th........Nanernanernaner..........
P.S. Us atkins "failures" just don't seem to have a problem with getting their protein.
Yup, we ARE (soon-to-be) LOO-SERS! 'N YOU'RE a LOO-SER, too, Dennis! Hehehe...AND...a MARCH LOO-SER at that!!
I get protein cravings...have been like that for years. I also live alone, so my idea of a "meal" after work might be grabbing the package of Sara Lee Honey Roasted Smoked Turkey Breast, hitting the couch and watching TV while peeling it off a piece at a time -- it's a wonderful life never having to cook REAL meals for anyone! But when I did Atkins, I got so frickin' sick of real protein that I could've hurled. I actually ended up GAINING on Atkins - can you EVEN believe it? I have the most bizarre metabolism (as the Dr.s say, a very efficient metabolism, where EVERYthing I eat STAYS with me, every frickin' calorie, etc. That's why the RNY will do me justice - due to the malabsorption factor...yee-HA!). Anyway, the Met-Rx shakes were a GREAT treat during Atkins. I even started with protein bars, and believe me, have had the full range of those that eerily tasted like dried sludge to Atkins Praline Pecan (they don't make 'em anymore...go figure) that tastes great!
Anyway, I've been doing the "Last Supper" boogie for the past few weeks: eating the stuff I KNOW I won't be able to eat for a LONG time after surgery. I've had a terrible craving for spaghetti, so I made my famous "twice baked" this past Friday, and brought the last portion of it in to work for lunch Monday! I snarfed it all down over the weekend! It was WONDERFUL, and now I've gotten it out of my system. This weekend it's gonna be Shrimp Scampi...don't know if I'll EVER be able to eat that after surgery! Oh well...
Since you'll be be getting replumbed the day before us "Niners", we expect you to send us emails that night so we'll know what to expect on the ninth, eh? I figure that since my surgeon is gonna have me up and walking one hour after I hit my room after surgery, pounding keys on the 'puter would be NOTHING by comparison!! I can hardly WAIT for that first stroll -- at least I know I'll have a morphine pump that I can hit just before I get outta the bed....ouch!!
Anyhoo, you can run, but you can't hide, Dennis -- you're a LOO-SER, too!

March Rules!
Well, actually, I don't like it with any pasta, just like the shrimp wallowing in wine/garlic/butter. Hey, I TOLD you I was a picky eater!
I'm not sure I'll be able to handle the FATS in the sauce. Just like lobster and crab legs...howEVER am I gonna eat it without clarified butter?
Actually, I'm sure I'll be fine without it all. Everyone says that your tastes can change so drastically after surgery, that all bets are off on what you will/won't like afterward. Gonna be scary finding out. My ONLY prayer is that I don't become lactose-intolerant. I'm a milk-aholic, and if I become lactose-intolerant (many do, I guess), I'll just have to sell my stock in Bordens. Cheez.
