New Tires, IPOD.... ready to roll
Wish me well tomarrow as I embark upon my 40 mile ride for the Tour De Cure I start at 9 and hope to be done by noon. If all goes as planned I'll have enough time to grab a shower, a nap and into the uni for a 12 hour shift at the rodeo. One of the small towns outlying my area is hosting their annual rodeo. It is always a joy when a town of 2000 becomes one of 10,000 for a weekend. Got the flex cuffs, new can of pepper spray, and a fresh ticket book ready to roll. Should be an interesting day and I bet I'll be beat come 0200 on Sunday morning.
The best news is that a little over two years ago I may have had to be concerned about getting mixed up with the stock animals as an escaped bull. Now I get to wear a turd brown, poly uniform with body armor in heat.
Ahhh gotta love the summer in a vest, eh? Yanno, in talking to some of the troops I work with I guess they have made vests that have air conditioning of sorts. Of course, government being what it is, they never approve something that can actually help. Instead they insist on vests that hold in the heat on 105 degree day. Yeesh - nothing worse than having to stand out on scene of an accident for hours in the blistering heat. But you know what some of these guys and gals do? They take those freezer gel packs and stuff those down in their vests.
Hey - ya gotta do what ya gotta do!
