Glad to hear I am not the only one who's scale hasn't moved in over a week. I had Open RNY on 3/24 and have lost approximately 60 + lbs. (I threw out my scale when it wouldn't move last week). I have gone from a size 32 jean to a 24. I also get in all my protein and water and between 600-700 calories. I might just have to try the suggestion of an all liquid diet for a week and see what happens. I have a wedding for my best friend on the 28th and would love to get into a dress in my closet that I have never been able to wear (bought it 3 years ago, guess I was just wishing it would fit then).

Hi Lori,
I actually had my Lap RNY WLS on March 27, 2003. I've so far have only lost 31.5lbs. What are you doing for exercise and protein. You are doing so wonderful with your weight loss.
Many Blessings,

Marilyn, maybe you are not eating enough. I eat five to six small protein meals a day and I've had great results. Have you spoke to your surgeon about this? Best Wishes, Heather

Hi Alexa, and congratulations on your loss -- you're doing great! I hesitate to compare to "averages" because there are SO many factors that can impact the rate of weight loss -- age, gender, type of surgery/amount bypassed, starting weight, etc. I'm 39 years old, had lap-RNY with 120cm bypassed on 3/4/03 and have lost 65 lbs so far, and I'm thrilled even tho I've been on a plateau for more than a week now, too. Keep up the good work and don't get discouraged.

I'm doing great. I am so happy I opted for WLS. I have been obese since puberty, so I'll be a "regular" size person for the first time in my life soon. To date, I have lost about 48lbs, about 2 or 3 dress sized and gained lots of energy. I am hoping to be under 200lbs by my birthday (7/25) since I haven't been under 200lbs since junior high school. I tend to have "streaky" weight loss, meaning I loose, plateau, loose, plateau, but it's all good. I've heard that means your skin is shrinking and I hope it's true. Life is better....heading to good.

Alexa...Sounds like you are doing great! I had my surgery on 3/6/03 and have lost 74 pounds. I'm thrilled! Don't get bummed by the plateau...it happens to everyone at some point. The physician's assistant that I spoke with at my checkup said it's okay to do an "all-liquid" week to jump start the weight loss. I know that I absolutely hated all liquids...but I'm prepared to try it if necessary. Keep up the good work! Lori 335/261
