Topic: RE: SO SLOW..I am so discouraged
Hi! My surgery date was March 10 too. As of today, I've only lost 50 pounds (well, 74 if you count what I lost before surgery). So you have been doing just great. How are things going for you now? I just recently found this page, so I'm a little behind in reading the posts.

Hi Marilyn Hmmm...that is strange. In the am, try 4oz Orange Juice, mid morning 1 english muffin with 2 TBLS peanut butter and 1 tsp jelly, Lunch salad w/tuna, mid afternoon, 2 crakers and cheese, Dinner SOUP! Try just for fun... Soup sure help, why? I do not know. You could be retaining water!!!!! Ask the doc if you can try a water pill. I have a few times now. Had my surgery March 6th and am down 73 pounds. I am lacking in the protein, but so far so good. I do take 3 flinstone vitamins a day, Liquid calcuim and my B12/iron vitamin. I feel wonderful. I have not done much in the exercise portion. Walk yes, but now I need to start something, I am going to check out Curves. Keeps us updated. Take care. tammy Schaumburg, IL

Topic: RE: surgery3/5/03 what is the average weight loss ?
Hi Alexandra, I had my surgery on March 6th, 2003! Man I feel good! I have now lost 73 pounds. So it sounds like we are all on target! I hit plateau/s atleast three times. they last for a couple of weeks. No problem....that is very normal. Your body thinks it's starving and would give up the weight. But it WILL kick in again. Our weight did get on us in a short time, so it will take time to take it off. You don't want to loose real fast anyway. Funny thing is, you may not be loosing the pounds but the inches are still coming off. Have you joined an exerise program yet? I am checking at Curves. I have 5 friends going and they are loosing the inches fast. I figure it's been long enough after surgery to do this. Check 'em out. www.curcesforwomen.com Tammy in Schaumburg IL. Take care.

hi marilyn----wow you are doing great on exercising, wish i could get the urge to do it myself!!! once you start losing and exercise alot you start making more mucles and muscles weigh more than fat does----so you might be losing inches instead of weight -----have you been measuring yourself, try it and you might be able to see the difference!!!!--i have also heard that if you get too much protein in your diet that you won't lose as fast!!! thankfully my doc doesn't suggest protein shakes so i don't do them i just eat & i have lost 88 lbs since 3/3/03----but everyone is different!!! hope this helps----mary taylor

72 pounds is awesome! I had surgery on March 24th and I'm down 48 pounds as of a week and a half ago. I don't weigh myself too often. I feel so much better and like you, I've had several people tell me I seem happier. I am! This is the best thing I've ever done. I went shopping for clothes on Saturday and enjoyed it for the first time in years. I could pick out things I liked instead of just anything that would fit and that I didn't completely hate. It was so much fun!

72 pounds, wow! I had rny on March 11th. I have lost 56 pounds. I know what you mean when you say you can do things you have never done before. Isn't this great? I live in Minneapolis and have been to the Mall of America serval times. It is huge. Be prepared to walk and walk. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes. What a great way to get in some exercise!!!

Topic: RE: How are all the March 2003'ers doing so far?
Congratulations!!! I had my surgery on March 11th 2003 and it is the best thing I have EVER done. I know everyone says it's your "re-birthday" but I truely feel that way. I finely have a chance at being "Normal". I am down 56 lbs as of this morning. It is really great to see how everyone is doing. I was wondering how my weight loss was compaired to others. I know there is now average, but you still want to know how you compair. Those of you who are losing slower, I may slow down later while you speed up! We never know what will happen. As long as the weight keeps coming off, no matter at what rate, it is in the right direction! Keep up the good work and think positively!! God Bless
