Topic: RE: Protein Suggestions
My suggestion/my schedule to get in my protien is I have 1 oz of Beef Jerky for breakfast (15 gram protien), I then eat 1 small can of albacore tuna for lunch (21 grams protein), 1/2 a protein bar for afternoon snack (detour bar has 15 grams protein in 1/2 a bar, tastes like snickers!!), then I have a small salad and about 3 ounces of chicken tenders for dinner. This gives me about 65 grams of protein or more per day. Then if I need an evening snack I go back to more beef jerkey for the extra protein. You are doing great and don't try to compare yourself to anyone else, we all lose at different rates and besides that everyone starts at a diffent weight. Keep up the great work!!

Topic: RE: Do you think I am progressing ok
Catherine you are progressing better than Iam. Iam 3 months out and only lost 33 pounds. I am however able to eat just about anything and about 5 oz. Iam just now able to exercise though. I still have an open incision and that has kept me down. Iam also having trouble getting in my fluids, so yes I think you are doing great. They told me that I was just a light weight at 5'4 and 251 pounds.
Topic: RE: HELLO ALL YOU BRAVE PEOPL...
Hello Bonnie, I think you are doing great. I had lap RNY March 21, 2003, (in Tallahassee) and I am down 57 pounds. I thought I was losing rather slow also, but from what I am reading from everyone else I think this is pretty normal. I actually gained 2 lbs. last week, but two days later I had lost them again. I have trouble getting in all tha****er we are suppose to drink and I know that would help. You hang in there. We've come too far to turn back. God Bless You!
Topic: 50 lbs GONE!!!
Just thought I would toot my own horn!! I have now lost 50 lbs. I will be 13 weeks out, LAP rny on 6/23/06. I feel great and can wear regular size clothes. Ex-large shirts and 16 bottoms. I exercize regularly and get in the required protein and fluids. Hope I can continue with this. Good luck to all of you starting the journey.
Topic: RE: want weight loss surgery
HI CONNIE.....Had my surgery(open RNY..that's the one where they cut you open from breast bone to naval) on March 26 2003. I am 55 years old so I know they will do it for you. I started out at 445 lbs & like you I was at my wits end. It just seemed like everything was going wrong with me (i.e. swelling, blood pressure, could hardly walk),then I decided to have surgery & thought all my worries were over but they weren't. This surgery is not a "cure-all". You have to work at it every day. I'm losing very slowly because I can just about eat anything I want & sometimes I do just that. When stres****s food is still right there for me. But I can also tell you that I haven't felt this good in 10 years & the surgery is well worth the effort, although I have only lost 47 lbs. I didn't have any complications & all went well. Hope you get your surgery & don't be scared because what is worse; the risk of dying early from obesity or the slight risk from surgery? GOOD LUCK.....keep posting on this message board. I'm sure one of us can answer any of your questions & before you know it you will be a post-surgery "expert".
