Catherine, I checked your profile and you don't mention how often you eat and what your eating. My advice is if your eating any type of starch carbohydrate to stop. You may need to eat more times a day too. If your body gets use to eating 3-4 times a day and it doesn't get more, it maybe holding on to everything. I had to feed my body more protein and healthy things to make it think that I was not starving it. Also, I've found that cross-training works too. If you do water aerobics, you may try some walking on the treadmill or outside, or you could ride a stationary bike. These things have helped me. I wish you the best of luck, 280/199/150

HI ALL YOU SLIMMING DOWN PEOPLE!!!! I have had my three month check-up & I'm only down 55lbs, but that puts me at 390 lbs instead of 445 lbs & that makes me very happy. I know I need to try harder. Can any of you tell me how many carbs you eat in a day to achieve a better weight loss? GOOD LUCK TO US ALL.......

I am glad I am not the only one who broke a plateua by eating carbs. I seem to lose more weight if I actually consume some carbs instead of all protein. I just make sure I limit them to no more than 20% of my daily intake. Yes I can eat more salad than other items. When eating salad I just make sure it has some protein on it as well, either grilled chicken, tuna or other fi****em. I really feel better though with the salad as it helps keep me regular. All protein and I am a stopped up puppy. Congrats on your loss and keep up the good work. Slow and steady is the best way. Jan, open rny 3/24/03 65lbs gone

I had surgery 3/19/03. I still have a funny feeling in my left side close the incision whenever I stretch a new way or if I do anything too strenuous. I keep reminding myself I don't want a hernia and just take things slow and easy. I can sometimes feel pain in my left side if I've eaten too much that day or if I am about due to have a bowel movement. Must just be something to do with that location.

Topic: Salads & low carb.
Hi, Surgery on 3/19/03 and have lost 66 lbs. That seems slow to me, especially since I lost so fast in the beginning. I walk all the time. I'm pretty careful about what I eat each day. Tuna and Eggs are a regular part of my diet. I was wondering about salads. Whenever I eat a salad I feel like it takes me longer to feel full and I notice my weight loss kind of slows down. Often times when I go out to eat (very hectic lifestyle) a salad is the easiest thing to order without drawing attention and comments, but I don't want to sabbotage this whole thing. I've also noticed after I binge or really eat something with a lot of carbs I can actually break a plateua. I don't do it often or for more than a day, but how weird is that. Anyone else have meal suggestions when eating out or know how salads affect us. Which is more important low carb or low fat?

I too have felt your pain and I searched the library here for an answer. I've been taking Peri-Colace, it's a stool softener/stimulant laxative. I take it when I need it, two in the evening and two before bed and it works great. I found it at Walmart where they have other laxatives. It was a little pricey about $12 for 30. Best of luck

I feel your pain. I used to go 3-4 times a day, now I go 3-4 days without going. If you find a good solution please pass it on. Best wishes
