Topic: RE: Kept surgery a secret?
AT FIRST I THOUGHT ABOUT KEEPING THIS SURGERY A SECRET JUST LIKE I WAS KEEPING MY WEIGHT A "SECRET" (445 LBS***SOME "SECRET")! THEN I GOT TO THINKING THAT IT WAS MY DECISION & I DON'T LIKE TO TELL LIES BECAUSE ONE LIE LEADS TO ANOTHER SO I JUST TOLD EVERYONE THAT NEEDED TO KNOW & IF THEY DIDN'T LIKE IT OR ME THEY COULD *LUMP IT*. THIS IS MY LIFE & I HAVE TO LIVE IT!!!! SO I SAY IT IS YOUR DECISION AS TO WHAT YOU TELL....GOOD LUCK**** 445/345/150
Topic: Kept surgery a secret?
I've kept this surgery a secret from some of my close friends and family and it's getting harder and harder to do. Has anyone else out there done this? I know I shouldn't be embarrassed about doing something good for myself but there are some people in my life who just doesn't understand. I feel so bad "lying" to people when they comment on my weight loss and ask how are you doing it? Of course I tell them all the things I am doing like the exercise, water, protein etc. so in some ways no I'm not lying but I feel like I'm keeping this HUGE secret and I'm not sure how to deal with it. If any of you have kept this a secret how have you dealt with it? Any suggestions? Heidi (down 80 pounds so far)

Congrats on the new you and attitude. I too have a hernia but since I am already at 100lbs (give or take 2) gone, we are going to wait until my 1 year anniversary to do my repair. Enjoy your sisters wedding and don't worry about your size. More people will talk about what you have lost as opposed to what you still weigh. Just have fun.

Topic: 6 month Check up... With a smile.... :)
Today I am in a much better mood..... I went for my 6th Month
check up at the doctors office. I am now 288lbs I have lost a total of 63lbs. My doctor told me to stop beating my self up beause I am doing great and Have continued to exercise. He has stressed that this is the most important part of the weight lost process Because my exercise will determine if I have to have plastic surgery in the future. Hopefully I won't.... How ever he did say I have a Hernia about the size of an orange. I have to wait until I have lost close to 100lbs to have this fixed, then he will be able to remove some of the extra skin on my stomach which will give me a slimmer waist line. So I can deal with the minor pain through the night for free extras with the removal of the hernia. I have gotten my eating habits back undercontrol and have refocused for my next goal. My sisters wedding is this weekend and now im not the largest woman in the wedding party as I was 6 months ago. That makes me smile at the small accomplishment. Until later Keep your head up and I will do the ssame. TJ

Topic: Just Found Out!
Hi Everyone,
I just found out today that I am finally down 105 pounds since my surgery. I can do so much more now than I have ever been able to do in my entire life and what a wonderful feeling it is.
I had my checkup yesterday and my blood pressure was perfect, no more asthma, have not have to use a CPAP machine from one month out of surgery, no longer taken any medications except for the supplements that I take and best of all I can fit in booths at restuaraunts.
I still have some minor issues with eating certain foods but nothing that is to great to handle. I also have move down the scale from a size 19.75" neck shirt to a 16.5" neck. From a 4X shirt to a XL. From a 54" waist to a 42" waist.
Life has been so great and even though I have had some minor troubles with food and eating it has all been so worth the journey and I would never hesitate to do this all over if I had to do so.
Good Life to all!
Sincerely,
Ken
Topic: RE: Losing Hair
I am 6 months out TODAY! WOW, times does fly by. I have lost 115lbs and have about 55 to go. My hair did fall out after about 3 months, I had a bad receeding hair line. My hairdresser advised I use a product call Nioxin. She says it is formulated to help with significant hair loss. Alot of her clients that have gone through chemotherapy have used it too! I have been using it for about 2 months now and can see all the baby hairs growing in. Finally some hair growing back!! It is a little pricey, but the beauty supply stores like Beauty Brands or Beauty World should carry it and they put it on sale occasionally. Hope this helps!! Best of luck to you!!
Topic: RE: My first dumping episode!!
Marilyn, I sorry to hear how sick you got... But I have also experience what you felt. It Was at a 4th of July party and they had no Diet drinks so I drunk a Strawberry soda And boy did I pay for it. I started getting very hot and sweaty and had to go in front of a fan because I felt like I was about to pass out. Then came the dumping It was the worst feeling I have ever felt. My stomach hurt so bad until it was all over. I had to go lay down for a few and get myself back together. Mind you, I never did that again,,......
