Topic: RE: Man I feel like I can eat so much
I have been using Phentermine 15 mg a day on and off for over a year. IT IS THE ONLY THING THAT HELPS ME CONTROL MY APPETITE AND DESIRE TO EAT THE WRONG THING. I go off of it for two weeks, then go back on. I started using when I was post op at about 6 months since I literally stopped losing weight through my own efforts, although I wasn't that big before surgery (237) and that I think was the problem because I wanted a faster loss. Anyway, although I don't like taking the drug it has helped me drop down to 137 and lose almost 40 pounds that I most likely would not have lost without it. It takes a little to get used to, cuz of the side affects, but I'm thin and I feel well..... Good luck!

Topic: one year behind you
Hello all, I am one year behind you and was wondering how long it took everyone to get to goal? Did you make it by your one-year or did it take longer or prehaps you are still loosing weight and have not reached it yet. I ask this because frankly I am getting very frustrated. I have not lost anything in 2 months and am comming up on my one year. I am scared that I won't be able to reach my Dr's goal of 144lb let alone my goal of 135lb. I have upped my excersise the last month or so and still keep track of my inches and have not moved any thing there in 2 months either. I am sorta starting to feel like a failure. I still track my food intake and am typicaly between 1000 to 1100 calories per day. Am I getting in to many calories? I just don't know anymore. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks for reading. Topic: Our 2 yr is coming up do what are you doing to celebrate
I will be 2 yrs post op on the 17th of March. I can not believe some days its been almost 2 yrs other days I cant remember myself as a morbid obese person because its seems so long ago.. I am not really doing anything special I got my TT on Feb 9th and I am so happy with it. My tummy is so flat. You can see pictures in my profile... Is anyone struggling maintaining thier weight. I am at goal and I am fighting 5 pounds they go up and down. I got down to 126 . I am now `132 but I think alot is because I am still swollen from TT because last week when I still had drains in I was 128 I am hoping this swelling goes down soon. Did you all get plastics???? I am so happy so far with my outcome. I am still struggling with head hunger demons.. I get about 1200 calories a day give or take 200 calories either way. I will not go over 1400 in a day ..

Topic: RE:  GETTING INS TO PAY FOR PLASTIC SURGERY
My insurance paid for my breast reduction and TT . I have Tricare prime. I had to fight for the TT but I had 3 doctors saying it was medically necessary . I had documentation on rashes and lower back pain. Finally after my 2nd appeal I got approved.. All I can say if you get rashes document them. If you have lower back pain tell your doctor .. Get all the documentation you can and then submit it to your insurance.. GOOD LUCK you will love it if you get a TT .>

Topic:  GETTING INS TO PAY FOR PLASTIC SURGERY
I was wondering how you all were getting your insurance to cover this??? I don't have the same insurance that I use to have when I got this surgery done. I have LOTS of hanging, loose skin that I would LOVE to get rid of, but always thought that insurance wouldn't pay for it.

Topic: RE: Man I feel like I can eat so much
Well glad to know I am not alone. I think many of us between 18 months and 2 years discover we can eat way more than we use to be able to and for me, way more than I imagined I could eat post-op. I surprise myself sometimes at how much I can eat and I like many of you, feel somedays I could eat a house... LOL. Snacking is also my enemy- one because I learned I could graze and two because what I snack on is not "good" food (ie, cheez-its, crackers, chips, cookies, etc). Has anyone found something that works for them? I try to load up on fluids and that often helps but sometimes I think my brain just wants me to make the eating sound/motion. LOL. Oh well, glad to know I am not alone. Amanda (03/19/03) down 165 lbs.

Topic: I cannot believe my eyes
If anyone had told me in 2002 that I woould lose 50% of my body weight after my surgery in March 2003, I would not have believed them. But I am living proof every time I look in the mirror or step off a scale. Or look into the eyes of my family members. or see the looks of admiration I get from the general public. Men and women. Oh yes, now some women are green with envy that I can now wear size 12-16 pants depending on style and size 14 tops. I used to be in 28-30 or size 4X's in 2002. It feels awesome to be as thin as I was 25 years ago!!!!! Now if only I could be as uninhibited as I was back then.....You should have seen me disco dance in the 70's....yes, I was good enough for John Travolta if he had asked......I am happier than I have ever been because I look good, I feel good and I have worked very hard to get here. Some days are a little rocky but 85% of the time my life is grand. My plastic surgery is 3/9/2005. I have been blessed with a great family and friends. My Main man from up above keeps me in line and I love myself and try to help others realize that contentment and sharing what you have is the richest thing in life taht you can own. Cherish yourself and it will all fall into place for you. Do not be afraid to ask for help and to thank God for all you have. Happiness and Contentment to all Judi Lescarbeau RYN 3/10/2003 Cobean

I think that we tend to forget the golden rule here: Surgery is just a tool. My surgeon told me his goal is to give me a normal life. Well, normal people watch what they eat. Yes, they might eat cake once in a while but they then monitor what they eat the rest of the day. Some common sense--of which I have precious little--goes a long way. I needed this post. Thanks.
