Topic: Just discovered this site!!
Being the computer illiterate that I am, I just discovered this site. I tend to find things by mistake and then forget how to get there again. Now I know where y'all are and will keep an eye on it. My surgery was 10/20/03. I'm one of the slower ones, have lost 90.5 as of this Monday. That puts me at 200 on the nose. Was hoping to drop under this week. One more week won't hurt me. I have a problem with getting in enough protein and water. No wonder I don't lose any faster!! But oh I have enjoyed the journey. I'm not depriving myself and have had no problems at all since my surgery. Until last night. Either had a lactose intolerance or dumping, not sure which. Whichever it was, I won't do it again (had hot chocolate and an hour later a serving of sugar free chocolate pudding). Anyway, glad to be here. Y'all all seem to be doing so well. It's encouraging.

Yes Heather, I have a hernia. My surgery was 3/24 and I notice the hernia some time in august. I saw my surgeon in early september and at that time it was about the size of a tennis ball. It has now grown to about the size of a grapefruit. He told me as long as it doesn't bother me (hurt) we are going to just let it alone until about 1 year post op and then do the repair of it and my TT at the same time. He did tell me though, if I started to have any major pain to call him immediately, that it might have intestines trapped in it. It is almost unnoticable when I have an empty stomach or when I am lying down. But when I have eaten or drank anything and I stand up it pooches out very noticably. (But you can't see it with my shirt over it) I have a followup appt in January, at which time he is going to send in the approval paperwork to my insurance, and then we will schedule the surgery.

Catherine, congrats on the progress. I agree we do have to do our part and lately that seems very hard. With all the halloween candy and goodies and the holidays coming up, we must work together with our tool and each other to accomplish this goal. Keep up the good work and have a great day.

Topic: Almost 8 months out
I had been on a plateau for the past few weeks but this morning I woke up and lost 3 pounds.. I have been off the bandwagon for a few weeks but started back up last week to get in my protien , water and exercise... and it seems to be working . I am now -90 pounds lost since day of surgery and -95 pounds from my highest weight.. So its true this is just a tool you have to do your part or this surgery will not work...

Wow Marilyn!! I guess you are loosing the inches! That is so awesome! And, I am a member of that same slow losers club! I am only down 86lbs and have been on a stinking plateau for the past 8 weeks! Before that, I was only loosing between 5 and 10 lbs a month. I am hoping it picks up again soon! Anyways, congrats on the size 22 and a loss of 10 sizes!!!! Woo Hoo!!

Hoping to dip under 200 maybe this week. I weighed in at 201.5 last Monday. I was down there there about 5 or 6 years ago (right before going back to 290). Congratulations on the loss. I had the same recognition problem with a neighbor I don't see very often. I knocked on her door and she hesitated to open it since she didn't recognize me. It's wonderful!!! Have a great week.

Hi Bonnie -- I tend to visualize something that my Weigh****chers leader showed us years ago. She brought in a baggie full of lard. To think of all of the bags of lard by this time!! But like you, I'm minus 3 cinder blocks too and can't imagine carrying those up a flight of stairs. Lord what have we done to ourselves!! Have a good one, Linda.
