Well , I will be 14 months post op come the 17th , can you believe we have made it this far!!! I have lost since surgery 116 pounds and 121 from my highest weight . I went from a hefty size 24 to a solid size 6 I am having my hernia repair and breast reduction on May 12th. I am getting a little nervous but I know I will do ok. I got denied from Tricare for my tummy tuck:snif: but I guess everything happens for a reason and maybe its not my time for a Tummy tuck. I will just fight harder next go around and I am damned and determined to get this done. I have gone to far to stop now As soon as I am able I will post about my surgeries. Hi TJ. My name is Tawana and I had my surgery on March 17, 2003 also. Congradulations to you and I wish you continued success. I can't say that I am all that thrilled about it all. I have had many ups and downs during the past year and I am just beginning to feel like a normal person again. I went from a size 28 to a size 12. I lost a total of 175lbs in a yeah and it is absolutely amazing to me! I am not use to getting so much attention and to tell you openly, I don't like it very much. Why? The main topic is always "How much weight have you lost now"? I am tired of people - especially those who never spoke to me before - needing to question me about myself. Before surgery, when I was struggling to walk down a block, no one so much as looked twice at me or stopped to ask me anything about myself. Now, I can't make them go away and just let me live. Then there are those who have negative comments that they feel I must hear. For example, "are you sick", or "you shouldn't lose any more weight". My oldest daughter was against me having the surgery from the very beginning and it hurt me a lot, and now surgery is all she could talk about. I am a bit bitter due to the fact that there is not a great deal of support for post-ops here on Staten Island. I am in great need of a strong Post-Op support group. I am speaking of the kind of support group where I could talk to people who are 1 year and beyond. It seems to me that there is a tremendous support out there in the Pre-op stage as if it has become some sort of marketing piece for obesity. I am planning to start my own support group. I would love to here your thoughts. Peace. Juan
