HEATHER....I do the same thing...I think I can eat too much, but to date I've lost 80 lbs....Some days are better than others as far as the amount I can eat & the doc says if you eat too much you can stretch your stomach...I've lost 80 lbs since 03/26/03 & that that has really given me the incentive to "be good"...I have so much energy now & if you think about it i"m probably eating 90% less than I did before surgery (YA THINK?) GOOD LUCK!!!!445/365/150
Heather, I will be 5 months post op on sunday. I have lost about 86 lbs. You are not losing slow. everyone is different. But to answer you question about how much I can eat. I can eat 3/4 of a hot dog, now that is the meat part only. NO BREAD. As for the hamburger, I haven't even tried one since they are "Fried". I eat salad all the time. Yes you should be able to eat more salad than meat since it digests faster and easier. I can eat about 2 1/2 ounces of meat at a time (turkey, tuna, shrimp, fish, beef or pork chop). I have ordered a beef burrito from taco bell, I open it up and eat about 2/3 of the meat out of it. Throw away the tortilla. I wouldn't worry though about how much you can eat as long as you are getting in enough water, protein and no sugar. Your doing fine and things will work out. Best wishes.
heather I am a guy but I am 5 months post op and have lost 80 lbs. I have a piece of fruit for breakfast most days fallowed approx half an hours later with a triple, venty, soy late with sweet and low. mid morning I have a sugar free protien bar and most days for lunch I eat a weigh****chers frozen meal. I also have salid very often for dinner and lunch. I love salid. I have another fruit in the mid afternoon and then dinner, before I go to bed I have a 3/4 cup of my own home made cerial, oats, soyflakes, bran with soy milk and splenda.
I feel like I am eating to much often but it seams the more healthy things I eat the fater the weight comes off..
I wish you luck, your doing great and just hang in there.

Hi Heather.....Girl you are not alone.....Now I'm a very slow loser.....I'm 5 months post-op and have only lost 53lbs.....I feel like I'm able to eat more than I should be able to.....I was able to eat a taco bell chicken burrito.....I ate only 1/2 for lunch and then was able to eat the other 1/2 for dinner and plus snack on some of those tortilla chips with cheese.....This is entirely too much food.....I'm able to eat a whole turkey hotdog but I try to stay away from the bread.....I do exercise at least 4-5 days a week and drink plenty of water.....I'm a partial veggie so I only eat chicken, fish and turkey and so this is how I get my protein in daily.....I just believe that eventually I'm going to reach my goal and get this weight off.....Hugs
I am exactly 5 months post op and down 107 lbs. But I feel like I am eating all the time too! I try to tell myself not to snack so much, but I snack on things like peanuts, and pretzels, and popcorn. I can eat about 1/4 of a burger with the bun, and 1/2 a hot dog with the bun. If I go to McDonalds with my son I can eat 2 chicken nuggets and about 10 fries. I think I get full fast because I do drink and eat at the same time, which they told me not to. But I cannot eat something without washing it down.
Sounds like you are doing everything great! Keep up the good work!
Hey there! I feel the same way! Some days I eat more than others and it is not b/c I want to but it is b/c I just can't eat as much as I ate the day before. I know I am eating more than what I was say 2 months ago - however I am being careful to keep the portions in check and nto stratch the stomach. The weird thing is that I very rarely stuff myself - I am very careful not to over eat b/c I learned early on that it a very misserable feeling and then would also throw it up. So I eat until I feel full.
I will be 6 months out as of the 17th of this month and to date I have lost 81 lbs with no plateu.
Keep up the good work!
Maybe the eating too much thing is more psychological than actually doing so? That fear of undoing that good this has done us.
