Topic: RE: How Much Can You Eat?
I am in the same boat, I can't eat as much as before, but definatly a lot more than I would like! I would say I eat as much as a "normal" person. But, there are days where I can't get enough to eat. I get hungry and I hate it. I have gained back about 30-35 lbs, I am too scared to get on that scale and fine out for sure. I had a baby last year and the doctors were constantly on me to eat more because I was not gaining enough. But, I couldn't, now, I could eat more no problem. Has anyone looked into having the pouch reduced? I would like to know what options are out there for us. No matter what I try, I cannot lose the extra weight. JUST LIKE BEFORE!!!

I went from 250lb to 120lbs.
I stayed at 125-130lbs, I am one of the lucky few that didnt work out and still didnt get any excess skin, but I lost a lot of butt and breast. I am now 162lbs and 35 weeks pregnant. I never thought I would be able to have babies and after losing all that weight, and finding a great guy I am having my daughter. But I am commited to get back to 125lbs after I have the baby. Good luck to everyone that had and planning on having the surgery.

Hi, I can eat about as much as I could originally eat in volume. Not including meats. That is why I have gained 35 pounds back. I am trying to kick the carbs. That is where my weight gain has come from. My high weight was 288 and my low was 179. I have been up and down around the 210 mark. I am so frustrated that I've done this to myself again! So....whatever you do, remember that the surgery is a tool, not a cure. We are still responsible for what and how much goes into our mouths.
Topic: How Much Can You Eat?
This post is for longer out post-ops. Next month will be 4 years out for me and I have found out that some days it seems as though I can eat so much, I mean almost like before. A whole plate of food. Some days it seems as though I can not get enough and then some days I can eat very little. It makes me think that this is only a tool and I have to mentally make myself stop sometimes, not wanting to go back to bad habits. Has any you longer post-ops have this to happen to you.
Topic: RE: Let's get this board to Rockin' n Rollin' !!!`
Cath,
I am a March 2004 post-op. I went back through several previous year March boards to try to get a preview of "things to come". I noticed your efforts to get this board going.
The "Marchers" of 2004 have been blessed with a very active board. We share a fear of regaining our weight, and would love to have you and anyone else reading this to come visit and post. We believe that one key to success is continued support. Please come share with us!

I had my surgery March 28, 2002. Dr. Christopher Hart in Suwanee Ga. I have lost from 361 lbs to down to 126 and now 3 years later, I am finally stabilized at 146#. I feel great, and owe my life to the LORD and Dr. Hart. Dr. Hart is truly an angel sent from GOD above. Thanks Dr. Hart.

Hi. My name is Melinda and I had my lap-band surgery March 6, 2002 with Hadar Spivak. As of June 2004 I had kept off 50 pounds. I am 5'7" and started out at 255 pounds. I was at 205 for a long time. Then in June 2004 I was prescribed Bontril and have lost another 30+ pounds and am at about 173 right now. I started out at about a size 20 and am now a size 12! My weight loss was slow because I wasn't exercising and found a new love for mushy foods like ice cream, mashed potatoes with gravy etc. It's amazing what we can do to continue to eat cr*p! I never really ate that stuff before, but it took the place of pizza etc. I am really happy where I am now, but would like to lose about 10 more pounds to be a small size 12 where I can shop at the cute stores and their "size 12" is really a size 10. The last time I saw Dr. Spivak was for a check up in April 2004 when I was at 205 and he said something very interesting to me...he said that I was a success at 205 and for losing 50 pounds because the success rate for band patienst is 50% and that for gastric bypass patients it's only 60%!!! That was surprising to me but encouraging at the same time. I have a question though, do you all continue to see your doctors for yearly check-ups? I'm thinking about going in to see Dr. Spivak again this year just to make sure that everything is okay. I'll post more later and congrats to everyone!
Topic: 3rd Anniversary
Tuesday, March 1, 2005, was my 3rd Anniversary post-op......I have managed to gain back only 10 lbs of my original weight loss and man do I feel great!!!!!!!! What a life I now have as opposed to where I would have been on March 1, 2005......in a wheel chair instead of retired, landscaping a large, new yard and eagerly expecting spring to get here....thank God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello everyone. How are all of you March two thousanders doing? It will be 3 yrs for us all very soon and I hope everyone is at goal or close to it. Life has been so goooood since having this surgery that even though I don't lurk on the board much anymore (with me being a skinny minny and all) I still come back here on or close to my annivarsary to see what's going on with my fellow WLS surgery buddies. May god bless and keep each of you.
