TEN YEARS OUT!

Hi everyone.

It's been ten years since I weighed in at 270 lbs and decided I needed help.  In March of 2002 I had a gastric bypass.  It's on the site under Jenny H. in Albany, NY.

Today, ten years later, I am a personal trainer and fitness instructor.  I weigh 130.

Unfortunately I find that I am in the minority in that I have successfully kept my weight off.  I hate that.  I want people to realize that I struggle every day with eating and food.  I exercise alot and keep track of my calories on a livestrong.com program (free) called My Plate.

It is a life long struggle people.  Gastric bypass is only as successful, LONG TERM, as you want it to be.  If you value your health, if you value your looks, if you value your size 8 jeans over your size 28 jeans (and I know lots of us with both sizes in our closets), then please understand that this is a life long effort and it never really goes away.

The operation itself is a jump start.  It helps you.  It's a tool.  But after a year, or maybe two years, we do learn to "eat around" the operation.  So you MUST incorporate exercise into your life.  And you must continue to watch your calories.

It can be done people.  Don't squander this head start that your operation gives you!  Be careful!  It sneaks up on you!

I wish all of you the best in your struggles.  And please believe me, that just because I'm thin, and I am, it doesn't mean that I don't fight and struggle every day too.

Sincerely,

Jenny H.
