Topic: Does Dr. Byrnes Do Revisions?
I am 5 years out in July and I am now 17 lbs over my lowest weight at 172. I can eat more now and the weight gain has been sudden and rapid. I also have had in the past year alot of belching and getting sick. I have gone back to the basics like when I had the surgery but the weight doesn't seem to slow. I am wondering if Dr. Byrnes does revisions and what that entails and if I may have a hernia?

Topic: Stopping in to say Hello!!
Haven't been here in a while & let me tell you has this site changed. It's taking me a while to find everything, but the site is well done. {{{Congrats}}}. I updated my profile & I know there used to be a link to updated profiles but I couldn't find it. I'm probably just missing it. Haven't had to much luck the pass year but you can read all about it in my profile. So sending out a big HELLO to all!! Hugs Susan

Topic: Post Op - almost 5 years out and doing great!!!
The last time I was here was right after my surgery, and I thought it was time to update everything. My surgery was March 20, 2001. My starting weight was 478, I got down to about 290, then stopped, and gained about 20 lbs back. I finally lost the rest of the weight, but had to get back to the basics to do it. I am now 185 lbs., feeling great, and preparing for a belt lipectomy on 2/7/06. I really would like to hear from others who are a few years out to find out how everything is going! For those of you who are "stuck" like I was, don't give up!

congratulations on your anniversary. It is almost 1 & 1/2 years for me and I was curious about how people do that are long term out. I don't concider me long term out cause I'm still learning things about my pouch. I feel great. Alot of energy. Lost 117 pounds went from size 26 that was tight to a size 10. I'd like to lose another 10 pounds that would put me at 150 my dream weight. But if I don't ever lose another pound I am thrilled with were I am. I've always been heavy since I was 8 years old and now to be 52 at a weight that I've always dreamed of is just like a mircle to me. I had the surgery for health reasons. My arthritis was so bad I was on 3 celibrex a day and was goint to sell my 3 level condo for a flat place. Now I dont' even think about oging up and down the stairs. I run up them! I can still talk and breath when I get to the top! good luck and god bless on many more years! Pam

Congratulations! So I've been considering the plastic surgery. How about emailing me ([email protected]) and letting me know how it was. Did your insurance cover it as part of the surgery process or was it separate. If it was separate, how much did you incur $ wise? How bad was the surgery, I heard it's 100 times worse than the GB. Just curious!

Topic: RE: Post Op 3 Years and Almost back where I started...
Well....I just posted a similar message this morning. I am four years out and although I've only gained 8 pounds from where I finally leveled off, I'm starting to feel although I'm headed down hill and need a dose of reality shot at me. We both know what we have to do. What I'm afraid of too, and you mentioned it is that I've stretched my stomach too much, even though I get full very easily as always, it seems like it holds more doesn't it? And pretzel sticks are my snack. I graze on them...a whole bag of Rold Gold's a day usually. And I discovered Animal Crackers. Hey...they're non-fat.... Complacent is such an appropriate word too. I was always the one who had the answers for everyone else on here and now I feel sorta stupid. The main thing I want to know is how do you begin to work the program again when you have lost site of the proper way to do things. Reading your post was like looking in my mind! I hope you can find the road before you get too far gone, if you feel like chatting, I'm sopranoiam on Yahoo email and messenger! Good Luck!

I had the wls surgery in 2001. I have gained about 20 pounds back. How would I go about getting a revision and could you tell me exactly what that is? Thanks.

FIRST GO ON LINE AND READ "POUCH RULES FOR DUMMIES" IT IS INVALUABLE. PUT THAT IN THE SEARCH ENGINE. WHY WOULD YOU CONSIDER A REVISION IF THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH YOUR POUCH OR BYPASS? GET REAL - THIS ISN'T A QUICK FIX; IT REQUIRES EFFORT ON YOUR PART AS WELL...B/C PILLS ARE NOT A JUSTIFICATION TO GAIN WEIGHT - IF YOU ARE GAINING WEIGHT STEADILY, YOU ARE EATING TOO MUCH AND NOT MOVING ENOUGH. CONSIDER COUNSELING. IF, ON THE OTHER HAD, AN UPPER GI SHOWS THAT YOUR STAPLE LINE HAS BROKEN DOWN, THEN BY ALL MEANS REVISE.

MY ORIGINAL SURGERY WAS ALSO ON 03/23/2001. I WEIGHED CLOSE TO 400 POUNDS. I LOST DOWN TO 150 BY 2 YEARS. IN 2003 I FOUND I WAS EATING MORE AND NOT FEELING FULL, I WAS STILL HUNGRY. I WAS ALSO DEALING WITH MANY FAMILY FIRES, THE MOST SERIOUS BEING THE STROKE AND DEATH OF MY FATHER. KEPT PUTTING OFF DEALING WITH IT...WHEN I PUT THE SIZE 12S AWAY I WAS OK...THE 14S I WINCED A BIT BUT WHEN THE 16S WENT AND THE DEPRESSION HIT BIG AND I REALIZED MY TYPE II DIABETES WAS REARING ITS UGLY HEAD, I CONTACTED MY SURGEON. WHEN I WENT FOR MY 3 YEAR CHECK UP, HE ORDERED AN UPPER GI, TELLING ME THAT GENERALLY BEING ABLE TO SUDDENLY EAT MORE MEANS THE STAPLE LINE HAS BROKEN DOWN. THE UPPPER GI SHOWED THE STAPLE LINE WAS BLOWN OUT. I HAD GAINED BACK TO 277 POUNDS. I HAD MY REVISION DONE MAY 7 HAVE DROPPED 35 POUNDS ALREADY AND AM FEELING GOOD ABOUT HAVING STOPPED THE MADNESS BEFORE ALL WAS REGAINED. I HAVE HAD PEOPLE ASK ME OVER THE LAST 3 YEARS WHETHER I WOULD DO IT AGAIN - WELL I KNOW THE ANSWER NOW - YES I WOULD....
