Wow...who is your dr? I only did the "soft diet" 10 days after surgery and for only two weeks. I had my surgery on feb 1st & I am able to eat chicken, tuna, fish, shrimp, crab, (no red meat or pork) all of the liquids from the first week & all of the "soft diet" foods. Plus I can now eat fresh fruit (no grapes) & fresh veggies.
Has your weight loss stopped or are you still losing?

I only felt the nausea when I was in the hospital. I had the dry heaves on the 2nd day after surgery & the smell of food made me want to puke. Even the day I came home I wanted to puke at the smell of food, but as the days & weeks progressed that all went away & I was feeling much better. I am now almost 2 months post op!!!

How did your surgery go? How are you feeling? Have you had any complications?

I know what you are talking about with the pain. My abdomen is killing me from the heaving. It has gotten where I actually have to sit on the toilet and heave into paper towels or toilet paper.

Topic: Stopped weight loss
I had my surgery on 02/01/2010. Went home three days later. Felt awful on the day I went home. Was having dry heaves & bad, bad gas. The first night home I got up every hour. But as the days went by I started feeling better. In the first month I had lost 26 lbs. I am on the third diet (chicken, tuna, fresh fruits & veggies etc) I found that my mouth was dry all the time. No matter how much water I drank.
Now almost two months post op my weight loss has stopped. I am very discouraged about this. Is this normal? How long does this last? Do I have to do an exercise program to get weight loss going again?
I hope that I didnt go through all this just to lose 37lbs total. Does anyone have any advice?

Hi! I am almost 7 weeks post op and haven't felt more nauseous EVER. It got to the point where my doc gave me a script for scopalamine patches (motion sickness patches behind the ear) They really help with the nausea but...dry out everything..my nose, mouth, ears, and eyes..its pretty weird. I was so sick of dry heaving..it hurt! So, the little side effects from the patches are worth it and I am finally feeling well enough to go back to work!

So sorry that you are having a hard time.  I hope that your doctor can figure out what is going on, and gets you feeling better soon.
