Heya Feb peeps :) I think I am losing so slow and it worries me because I must have a stomache like a goat because nothing really  makes me sick...not sweets...not steak...I have been very careful though and I finally joined a gym this week so hopefully it speeds up! Hope everyone's doing great! If I could be so nosy as to ask what everyone has lost so far...wondering if I am losing an acceptable amount. :)

Hey Tiffany,

Yes I was prescribed this some years back to get my cycle back to flowing, maybe with the change in hormones due to surgery and the hormones being produced by the Provera may be just to much for your body. I personally had no side affects.. Worked like a charm for my cycle..

This a question for the ladies. Let me give you a history, lol and then I'll get to my question.  I've always had pretty regular menstrual cycles throughout my life (although heavy bleeding, it still came every month like clock-work).  In  Nov, Dec and  early January, I didn't get my period.  I didn't think anything of it nor did it bother me...Who wants to deal with periods, right?   At the end of January that last week, I finally got my period - And life went on.  Typically my periods last for 5 days.  So, when day 7 hit, I was like - hmmmm... then 2, 3, 4 etc.. you get the idea.  I had a never ending period!  I still wasn't too stressed about it as I had surgery on the brain!

Surgery day gets here and I'm still on my period (ugh) 2 days later it stopped.  I thought that was the end of it and I will get back on track - NOT!  5 days later it came back and it hasn't left since!  Its been btwn a light and medium flow, no cramps and I usually get major cramps.  I finally decided to see my OBGYN a few weeks ago and gave the run down.  She then prescribed Provera for 10 days and said this will regulate my cycle and I may get my period I may not, leaning more towards I will get.

After the 10th day of taking the pill, 2 days later I got my period and boy it is killing me!  I have exteme bleeding with clots!  Will go through a tampon/pad within an hour!  I am exhausted and have no energy.  I can't get up enough strength to go to work.  I've been working from home so I won't have to commute but even that is too much.  All i want to do is lay in bed.  Even getting dressed takes a lot ot of me! I have no appetite at all! I try to force myself to eat something but would usually do about 3 to 4 bites of something before its in th garbage.  I hate this feeling! I don't feel like myself at all!

I've read online that these are some side effects to this drug.  Have any of you been presribed Provera?  If so, for what reason?  What was your experience? Would you tolerate this again?

Thanks so much for listening!  I am truly going through it and I am too young to feel this way.  I need to get back to "fun" Tiffany.

P.S - I wasn't sure which forum was appropriate for the topic...

Here are a few small wow moments that I have experienced since losing 70+ lbs! Some may not seem like a big deal....but they are all special to me!!

*Hopping in and out of my car without having to adjust the steering wheel.
*Going to see my son perform in the Special Olympics and not being deathly afraid of the stadium seating!
*Being able to complain that my pants are falling off instead of complaining that they are too tight. (Yes, I have went shopping and enjoyed every moment)
*Going DOWN in sizes....that is a first for me!
*Being able to cross my legs....I find myself doing it all the time now just for kicks!
*Being able to exercise for an hour straight without feeling like I just ran a 100 mile marathon.
*I have lost the amount of weight equal to how much my son weighs!! WOW!!

Thanks for reading! Cheers to many more WOW moments to come.... Hope my other Fed 2010 Family members are doing well!

I had my WLS 8 days after you did.  I also had a speedy recovery, as I had Surgery on Tue and went back to work the following Mon.  I haven't looked back.  Every day I do feel better...Just making sure I am drinking enough and getting all my vits in.   I also have a scale addiction where I weigh every morning.  One great thing now when I go shopping I am looking for clothes that I can wear.  Use to when I went shopping I would just look for my husband and daughter.  Now I am actually looking for me.

I am right there with you girl!  Just hang in there!  I am determined this will not be all.  I am anxious to have more weight come off.  I guess we just thought it would be a quicker loss that it currently is.  Which in some aspects it is...i would not have been able to lose this much weight prior to WLS!  Just keep thinking about how much better you feel now than before.

I had my surgery on Feb 15th 2010.  I have my two month checkup on Wed.  I have lost around 90lbs total with 37 from preop.  I have had it very easy.  I dont have a problem eating.  I have cut back on my protein shakes cause I'm able to get alot of the protein from food.  Id do the surgery again in a heart beat.  I do miss being able to have some ice cream or sweets but that is a cross I will carry to get healthier.  Hope you all are doing just as good.
