I'm also having surgery on the 8th. Tomorrow is my last day on solid food - liquids (and pudding/jello) Friday and Saturday, then clear liquids and poop-juice for Sunday. Yeah, I like my Dr. not requiring me to do the diet longer before surgery... I'm enjoying Dunkin' Donuts today and tomorrow :)
I wouldn't mind a phone buddy, but since we are anticipating breathing/throat problems following surgery, I likely won't be able to talk. Add in the anti-coagulant shots I will have to do after surgery, and I will be tired as all hell, too. Last few surgeries I had my asthma was horrible and/or my throat was irritated (from the tubing). Hence me bringing my iPod Touch with me and using it + the free Wi-Fi in the hospital. I can get emails/chats/txts while I'm in there if you're able to :)
I'm just irked I won't know what time my surgery is set for until Sunday. They could ask me to come in at 4am... and I would like to know sooner than later how early I need to be up, ya know?

It went really well, and I was out of the hospital by 1:00PM. I'm not in too much pain, and just really feel like someone used my belly as a boxing speedbag when I move. I brought home 2 long rectangular ice bags that I have used all all night, and they really help. I'd like to make that recommendation to the rest of you :)
Good luck to you all!
Good luck to you all!

I was told yes protein starts as soon as you get home infact its part of my 2week pre-op liquid diet so I am already consuming it. Vitalady.com sells a nice sample package. Good Luck and I'll join u on the losers bench on the 15th.

Hi my surgery is on the 15th here is what I am required to do;
Start to exercise now even if its just walking and a 2 week liquid diet that includes chicken or beef broth, sugar free jello, sugar free Popsicles, tomato juice, no sugar and non-carbonated drinks (such as crystal light) and up to 4 whey isolate protein shakes per day they should be under 200 calories and have at least 20g of protein and almost no sugar/carbs per serving because you should be trying to shrink your liver before surgery. I am using syntrax nectar sweets chocolate truffle, I mix it with water it's not too bad. I was also told to start taking an ADULT multivitamin, Calcium citrate and B12. I was told not to take Flintstones that Centrum has chewable for adults and that is a much better option. If you are not required to do the liquid diet I would still def stick to a very high protein no carb diet to shrink your liver. Options would be any type of low fat meat, eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, string cheese etc. Good Luck and I send positive thoughts your way!

Hey Surgery Twin, I'm also on Feb 9. I guess I need to packing as well. The only thing I know for sure is socks and chapstick. Guess I'll be adding in those other things.
See ya on the other side.
