I was really anxious too, I tought about all the complications , having second thoughts, etc...and see, all those worries for nothing. I am happy if I can reassure you, for the majority of people everything goes very well.  Keep focusing on your goal, it will be an easy journey for you too! I am 4 days out, and feeling great!

Good luck and keep us posted!

It is great to hear that you are going so well.  I am having my surgery next week and I am anxious.  I am glad to see that some people are putting positive posts.

Thanks.  You made my night.

Yes, Lily is the orange and blond color, Chloe's picture could be a picture of Lily.  I will try to find one and post it.  I am just turning 50 on Feb 14th, can you believe it!  I have 2 granddaughter's 2 and 3 yrs old.  My husband and I have 4 children, 29, 27,27, 24.  I am looking forward to being more active, and ride bikes with my husband of 30yrs.  Have a great weekend.  Mary

Congratulations onyour weight loss that is a huge accomplishment doing that while your getting ready to have surgery too.   I don't like pills either - but if it weren't for the chewables I don't know what I'd do.  Oh well, I try and take supplements anyway so its not so many more. It will be nice to keep each other posted on how this all goes. Have a good day!

Wow, Thank you for sharing with me - Mary we have so many things very similar. I too was going to have the lap band until  I did the research on it. Dr. said I wasn't really as heavy as people who generally get RNY done. (I'm 5'2" and 208 and I'm in my 50's) But I too have heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and arthritis in my family. So there is significant risk of me developing any of these and more. I think he submitted to the insurance as a preventative measure and they approved it.
My husband and I used to be very active and I want to return to that lifestyle also.
Yes my avatar is my pom, her name is Chloe she is the sweetest lil' pal I could ever have. Is Lily the orange color too?

I too am on a pre op protein diet. I started a week ago.  I am using protein drink for two meals and then for the third I can have a low cal meal with chicken/vegetables.

My doctor explained to me that everyone is different.  Even though I have lost a lot of weight to get ready for the surgery he said he still needed more "room" to move around to make the surgery easier on him and me.

The other thing is that I sampled at lease 10 protein drinks before I finally selected "Monster Milk" in chocolate.  I can drink it fairly easy.  It has a high protein count so you do not have to drink as much.  I really liked that.  I learned also that I must keep my meal times on a good schedule so that I have enough protein at all times.  If  I don't I feel light headed and feel nauseas (spelling????)

My surgery is on Feb 17th! Yippeeee!
Good luck to you on your surgery

Hi.  Yes I am with Kaiser.  My surgery will be done in South San Francisco.  The process has taken me more than a year even without complications of medical coverage.  I am so happy that your finally there.

I just cannot believe how thrilled you must be to have your obstruction removed.  Thank goodness you told your surgeon about it.

I have a few medical issues and I also have diabetes and heart disease in my family.  So some of it is definately for preventative.  I have chronic back pain which I am really really hoping it helps.

Let me know how your surgery goes.  I keep you in my prayers.

I finally fixed my ticker tracker thing!
