Welcome home, had surgery the same day. I got no sleep in the hospital either but it was because they were taking phenomenal care of me. I have no complaints!
I agree that the gas pains have been the worst parts of this. Having a baby was harder!

Hello all! I made it to the other side of the bench and what a ride!
Just some random thoughts from a dude fresh from the experience.
The worst parts for me were/are the gas pains in the shoulder - it feels like I pitched 13 innings - I am walking, walking, walking and loving my heating pad....
...and the hospital stay - the staff was awesome but I could not sleep a wink...I had an old guy as a roommate who snored and groaned all night. Add to that he was very hard of hearing so the staff would yell in the middle of the night "OK MR.BOOTH,WE ARE GOING TO CHECK YOUR BLOOD"
...other than that it hasn't been that bad - very tired - actually got weepy-eyed when I stepped back in my house...my wife has been awesome thru this and has taken a lot of stuff off my plate....every day I feel better and better...
now it is time to get in those 64 oz of water !!!

Topic: RE: Stressed my daughter had pink eye...
I would take her to the doctor to see if it's pink eye, and if it is, get her on meds immediately. My original surgery date was Feb 2, and my daughter got pink eye and strep throat two weeks before. I was worried that I would get it too. I took her to the doctor, got her on antibiotics, and thankfully never got it. My doctor got sick, so my surgery is rescheduled for Feb 23.

My surgery date is Feb. 23 also. I was suppose to go in Feb. 2, but my doctor got sick. I am too excited to be nervous or scared. I haven't been scared at all, I am more scared of what would happen to me if I did not have this surgery. I plan on using this surgery as the tool I need to gain control over my life, not to just eat less, but to be a healthy person for the first time since my early 20's.
Good luck to all the Feb. 23 surgery patients!! I'll be thinking of you...

Topic: Home!
RNY was done 2/16 and got home last night. Unfortunately it seems that every prescription strength pain med makes me nauseous to the point all I can do is lie down and not drink which is not good. After the nausea wore off mid day, I have been trying to get all my fluid in but I don't think I will make it today. Tomorrow is another day.I am amazed at the whole procedure and hospitalization. I had a wonderful team taking care of me and made sure that each and every person knew it. They were among the most caring healthcare professionals I have had the privelege to deal with. The running joke at my house is that I went to the hospital for WLS and gained 16 lbs overnight! Hoping to dump all that IV fluid by the end of the week.Onward and downward!

Topic: RE: Protein Shakes...
Hello! Today makes it one week that I have been on my liquid. Does it suck? YES! Am I surviving? YES! I LOVE the EAS Advantage CarbControl Chocolate Fudge Protein drinks. They come in a 4 pack and you can find them at GNC, Walmart, Grocery Stores...everywhere! They have 17 grams of protein, NO SUGAR, and only 130 calories. I normally drink 4 a day and some chicken broth for din din. Hope this helps! Good luck!
