Topic: I'm Home :)
Surgery was 2/18, got home from the hospital at 11 this morning.

I feel mostly good except for the really sore throat from the tube during surgery and some gas pains.    I am sipping, sipping and sipping some more and making sure I drink at least 40 oz but am striving for 64 oz liquid per day.  So far it's been PowerAde Zero, weak chicken broth and sugar free jello.   I have had no nausea so Doc says I can try to introduce something from the "full" liquid list tomorrow.  I am a litte nervous about changing things up but excited also.  One step closer to recovery.

Thanks to everyone for their words of wisdom before my surgery and I look forward to any words of wisdom or guidance that you can offer post surgery.  My Doc says that the rules are not written in stone (except for how much liquid I MUST take in every day) so guidance from those who have tried and true stories to share are most welcome and will be appreciated.

Thanks to all and God Bless!  I am going to sleep in my own bed now !!!

My surgery was 2/18, got home around noon today.

I am drinking mostly PowerAde Zero but also try to squeeze in a couple of sugar free jellos and some broth.  My total intake is (and MUST be per my surgeon) between 40 and 64 oz per 24 hour period.   My surgeon preached about getting the fluid in....if you don't get at least 40 oz  you risk dehydration which will make you weak, lethargic and basically feel like crap.

Good Luck!!!

Measure, Measure, Measure....eat slow, chew a lot.  Those should ease a lot of the throwing up. :)

I am on clear liquids until Thursday ( water, Crystal Light...because I believe in me, SF Jello, broth, SF ices) . My goal is to get 60oz of water a day and at times I think it is near impossible. I just keep sipping, sipping,sipping...and then I sip some more.

I'm having mine on Thursday! I feel the same way. Nervous, excited, stressed by all the details I need to take care of between now and then.  I can't wait to compare notes about our surgeries!

My surgery date is also 2/25! I don't have to start the liquid diet until 2 days prior (have been on very low carb), then I will start liquid only and Milk of Magnesia to clean me out. Sounds fun. I hope everything goes smoothly for you all and have a quick recovery!

I am 4 days out.  I work at the surgical hospital that I had my surgery at.  They only have single rooms that look more like a 5 star hotel.  I was also lucky to get to try out a new bed that they where trying out cause the old ones where too small for me at 6'2''.  I didnt have any real bad gas pains. I was running laps up and down the halls every few hours.  I got lucky that I was very stable on my feet.  I didnt get gas pains hardly at all.  I hope your recovery goes just as well as mine is going so far.

My wife is 5 and a half weeks out from lap rny and Im just 4 days out.  She has been throwing up some as she tries new foods or even her vitamins.  She says it is totaly different throwing up with a pouch compared to before surgery with the stomach acid.  It makes her feal better if it isnt agreeing with her pouch.  I suggest measuring out your food and also try only one food at a time to make sure you can handle it.  We are on protein meal replacement for a whole month then oked to go back onto normal after that.  She has found out that she really likes egg salad made with light mayo.  She eats around 2 oz of egg salad which is roughly a quarter cup of food.
