Walk walk and walk some more. That's the only thing that worked for me. Yes, that pain can be excruciating but litterally and figuratively it shall pass and you'll feel like a new man. Take care.

Everything went pretty well. My doctor told me I had a hiatal hernia he had to repair but didn't know that I had. After that he did the lapband and all was well and done. I came home later that evening. I haven't really had much pain other than the swelling and sorness as far as my belly area, but I did experience a lot of back pain. I think it may have been gas or the way I am sitting or sleeping. I still have a little bit of back pain but not like I was having a day or so ago.

Topic: RE: Home and 3 days out, question???
I am three days out and got home from the hospital yesterday. I was cleared to start on protein shakes right away and then once I was consistently getting 64 oz of fluid and 60-80 grams of protein I could go up to pushy foods. Yeah....I am having trouble getting the fluids in because I keep falling asleep. I barely slept at all in the hospital so now my body is trying to make up for it. I fell asleep at 8:30 last night and slept until 5am. Then I fell asleep again around 6:30am and slept until 9:30am. I walked a mile today (yea, me!), took a shower by myself, and then had to take another nap from 1:00pm to 5pm. I'm only taking maybe 2 pain meds a day. I take phenergan a little bit before I try the protein because it hit my tummy hard yesterday. The two best things for me so far has been decaf peppermint tea (REALLY gets the gas flowing!) and I have found the magic way for me to get my protein is by mixing my decaf coffee with Splenda and sf creamer the way I would normally drink it. Then I mix in my Caramel Latte protein powder (by Syntha 6). I just tried one scoop which is 22g of protein, but I will work it up to 1.5 scoops so that I will fulfill my protein requirements with 2 cups of coffee. I really liked ice water for the first several days, but now I am finding that slightly diluted Vitamin Water is going down easier. I have found that my nose and taste buds are REALLY sensitive. Things that can taste strong (like Crystal light, sugar free Popsicles, etc.)can be too much for me. I am working on it. It think I have gotten about 40oz. so far today.

Frank, try a little hot tea. I have about 5 boxes, but I have found that for me decaf peppermint tea helps things along immensely. After having about 1/2 a cup I was FINALLY able to pass the lower gas that had been building for days (lots of burping and hiccups, but no lower gas until today). The broth was OK in the hospital the first day then I was over it. My doctor cleared me to start protein shakes as soon as I got home and that has been a little tougher. They recommended (and this has helped a lot) putting the protein shakes in a sippy cup or a coffee cup with a lid to help with the scent sensitivity. And don't forget walking. I am three days out and walking about a mile. That definitely helps move the gas.
Hope that helps.

Congrats! I am glad to see that you are feeling as great as I am - I was starting to feel like a freak! I had my surgery on 2/17 and was back to work on the 23 because I was going crazy at home. I have so much energy and no pain!
