Topic: RE: 2 weeks out...what are you eating?
How many protein shakes have you tried? I am 2 weeks out and there is no way you can get adequate protein with out supplementation. I had to try almost 30 different kinds to find a couple I like. You can get samples online from Syntrax nectar, unjury, vitalady, bariatriceating, etc.
I am eating beans, tuna, tonight I had trader joes stuffed flounder (stuffed with crabmeat and cheese), yogurt (greek is double the protein). I haven't tried the ricotta cheese yet but I had heard spaghetti sauce but to watch the sugars in the sauce. I also just checked out some bariatric cook books from the library to look for recipes.

I am a little over 2 weeks out and I have been doing the pureed stage I guess. Scrambled eggs, beans stuff like that. Every meal has protein but I cannot stomach protein shakes. just curious what else I can eat. What kind of sauce do you put on ricotta cheese? Like spaghetti sauce? I have been reading posts her and there and just wondering. When do you start over things? My surgeon is pretty laid back about it and said go at my own pace but I am just wondering what I should try next?

Do you mean making the "pointer" character move to the right as you lose weight? If so, all you have to do is enter your current weight using OH's Health Tracker. www.obesityhelp.com/myoh/healthtracker/#ht_main:body The ticker will adjust automatically every time you enter a new weight.

I'm a goofy goober. Could someone quickly tell me how to move the ticker- meaning how to move the little avatar to show weight loss. I know its on this site somewhere but I don't know where. Thanks a bunch.
Topic: RE: Getting protein
You're not alone.. My doctor has told me over and over that everyone is different. I am having a hard time eating too. Fortunately, I have only felt nauseated twice but mainly stuff just hurts going down. I can get in 1 cup of protein shake in about 2 hours but it's not pleasant going down. Drinking plain water is very uncomfortable as well but drinking weak hot herbal tea is fine. And, yes, the only thing that truly doesn't bother me at all are the popsicles. We are not getting enough protein at this rate. I have my follow up surgeon's appt tomorrow. I hope yours is soon as well so they can give you some ideas. If I learn anything interesting I will pass it on. Take care.
Topic: RE: Curious
I am a little concerned. I have only lost 9 lbs in exactly 2 weeks (I didn't include the 18 I lost which was water gained in the hospital). The doctor has taken me off of my water pill so that may be why I'm losing slowly- I may be retaining. I hope that's it and the doctor adjusts my meds accordingly. Now that I look at one of the other posts, it is very possible that I am not losing that fast because I'm not getting much protein in. I'm barely getting anything in. Everything hurts.

Yeah, the weather this time of year is not great for walking. I was actually talking about walking to the kitchen and back because God knows that's about as much as I could do until a few days ago. Just standing up seems to help sometimes too.

Get up and move around as much as you can. I haven't left the house to walk either because I'd kill myself trying to get down my very steep driveway. I've just been walking around the house and was even able to go up and down my basement stairs the day I got home from the hospital. Getting on our feet and moving around does several things. It helps the gas pass and keeps the bowels moving, it helps prevent clotting (which can be fatal), and it helps keep our lungs open plus it actually helps us heal quicker.
It's not fun but it's important.
