I will either call you, or send you a VERY detailed email on Tuesday (my day off). What kind of surgery are you having and what is your surgery date? I will try to answer all of your questions to the best of my ability, but I won't have time until Tuesday. Until then, do what I had to eventually do to relieve my fears......turn it over to the Lord and be done with it! He will take over from there, and you will feel so much better. Talk to you on Tuesday, I promise.

WHEN WILL YOU HAVE SURGERY AND WHAT SURGERY ARE YOU HAVING?
I had my surgery Feb. 4th, exactly 1 month ago.  I had a VSG.  Everything went smooth as glass!  I actually can not believe that something didn't go wrong!  No leaks, no infections, to seratomas, no vomiting, nothing!  Everything in regards to my recovery has gone perfect also.  I am an Emergency Room nurse and I was off work for 2 weeks, no problems when I went back to work.  I could not, however, have gone back to work any sooner, too exhausted!!!  If I'd had a secretarial type job, I could have probably gone back to work on Monday after my surgery on Thursday, but because of the nature of my job, I needed to be 100% recovered when I returned to the E.R.

I really didn't fully grasp what a change in eating habits was going to be like before having the surgery!  There is no way to get it into someone else's head about what a psychological adjustment it is about eating.  When you get back on eating real food, it's like 3 bites and you're done!  And trust me, if you don't chew, chew, chew, chew, chew, You Will Regret It!!!

I have been eating alot of beans. Kidney beans, Butter beans, Navy beans, Black Eye peas. If you have a Crackle Barrell near by go  and tell them you want some Chicken & Dumpling Broth bring it home warm it up with milk. Lots of Potato soup broth with melted shreded cheese and Chicken and Noodle soup. Like you I have had problems with protein drinks, I have samples from everywhere. Just try drinking 2-3 oz at a time more a day, instead if the 4 oz.. Add ice we just bought a Ninja (at Wal-Mart) it makes ice like snow and mixes things really well. Good Luck.

Try Yoplait Greek 2x Protein yogurt - it's got 14 grams of protein per serving.  Plain it's a great sourcream substitue, and with some sugarfree syrup, it's sweet.  LOVE THIS YOGURT!

Tuna fish, Fatfree refried beans (w/ a little fatfree cheese and Greek Yogurt), pureed chicken salad, egg salad are some of the things I enjoyed during my pureed stage.

I'm still at the full liquids stage so I haven't gotten past protein shakes, fat-free sugar-free pudding (augmented with unflavored soy protein isolate) and Special K2O protein water mixes.

I'm really looking forward to progressing to the point where I can start cooking again. So far my favorite bariatric cookbook is "Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery" by Levine and Bontempo-Saray. I tried a few of the recipes before my surgery and they were quite tasty.
