Topic: A glass of wine?
I am going with my mom and daughter to the theater Wednesday evening, and I would love to have a glass of wine with dinner. It's been about 3 years since we have gone out together, so it's a special occasion. The surgeons say no alcholol for a year - after all we are trying to loose weight - but they know some of us will have a drink anyway, and to be careful.
Just wondering if anyone has tried having a glass and what thier reaction was??

That was also my date. I got a band instead of a bypass but I agree with you -- best decision I ever made. I wish you luck on your journey to a healthier future.

Topic: My Surgery was Feb 23rd
Hi everyone!! I am doing great!
My surgery went well and I was in the hospital for three days. I was walking 2 hours after surgery.
I am home and getting stronger everyday...It is two weeks since the operation.
It is the best decision I have ever made
Thanks
Love

Topic: RE: 2 weeks out...what are you eating?
"Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery" by Levine and Bontempo-Saray is my favorite bariatric cookbook so far. I made a point of trying some of the recipes before I had my surgery and I found them quite tasty. I'm having Tuna Mousse from that book for dinner tonight.

Topic: RE: Curious
I lost 15 lbs on 2 wk pre-op diet...gained 11 of that back with water retention in hospital, and have lost the 11 lbs plus another 8 since I came home from hospital....so I am 10 days post op with 23 total lbs lost.....but only 8 since the day of surgery. I am also not getting much in due to a very irritated pouch, but I am sipping my protien constantly.
Topic: RE: 2 weeks out...what are you eating?
I am only 10 days out but had to go back to clear liquids as I was having terrible gas pains when I went to full liquids....not sure if I am now lactose intolerant . But have been doing my clear protien shakes so far & feeling good.
I also bought a NInja (havent used it yet though!) as well as "Eating Well after WLS"!
I am looking forward to getting to eat something besides protien shakes though!

Topic: RE: 5 days post op pain
I am at 10 days post op today and have had the same issues with the baaad gas pain- I moved to full liquids per my surgeon, and apparently the skim milk made everything inside VERY angry! It took me 2 days of clear liquids (mainly water with a little broth & some plain crystal lite) to get it settled back down from the rolling and sometimes very sharp gas pains. Yesterday I went back to clear protien shakes and today am on that and a little jello and no pains so far so hoping to keep it that way!
So glad to hear some feedback from others at my stage that sounds similar to where I am at...was getting kind of worried!
I walk on my treadmill (slowly...) for 10 minutes at a time throughout the day, although the first week home I could only do some laps to and from the kitchen as well! Hang in there!
