I had gastric bypass feb 15th.  I haven't posted before.  I have lost 57 lbs.  I use the eliptical and treadmill 5 times a week.  I burn 500-600 calories at workouts.  I don't know why I am losing so slow.  I really haven't been to discouraged until I started reading posts.  I use the protein shakes for 2 meals and a snack and then I have 1 small meal a day.  Usuallly chicken or sometimes beef.  I don't eat many vegs as it is to much food for 1 meal.  Any suggestions?

Actually, just to hazard a guess, but it sounds like you actually need some more calories. You are burning so many during your workout, but doesn't sound like you are taking in that much. Perhaps your metabolism is shutting down. Try adding a couple of healthy snacks (particularly after working out) like string cheese or some fruit. It sounds like you are doing great getting your protein, but your body does need a little bit of carbs to stoke the metabolism fires. Some low glycemic fruit (like strawberries) might do the trick.

Hope that helps!

I have only lost just over 60 pounds and mine was on 2/23/10. It so depends on how much you have to lose. I have gotten discouraged at times too until I see a lot of people hover right over the 200 pound mark at our same time...you are doing great! And I do agree a bit more calories helps. I was at a stall for 2 weeks went on vaca to MT last weekend ate terrible! Really terrible...came home got on the scale and lost 4 pounds since last I weighed(which was on Thursday of last week...so the body knows what we are up too and it's good to trick it!

I had RNY on Feb5th.
I feel I'm a "slow looser" as well, however, I do notice inches changing on those weeks I'm not moving the scales.
I'm meeting with my NUT soon to go over my food logs as we think I'm too short on the cal intake, causing me to "shut down"
My exercise has been limited to walking and some swimming due to my joint issues.

My average protein intake is between 80-115grams a day- however, most of that has been through solid food protein vs. the whey protein powders.  NUT is encouraging me to try to switch it up a bit, get more protein from the whey powders, less reliant on solid food for a few weeks to see if it jump starts me again.

Though slow, I feel great and I'm happy with the progress I've made-- no other time in my life have I lost over 50# in a 6 month period!

Encouraged to see I'm not facing the slow loss alone here.
