Anyone have a surgery date of Feb. 15th 2010?  Just got mine scheduled for next week.  I work at the hospital that does the surgerys so they got me in faster.

My surgery is also on the 16th. I'm lucky, I have to be on clear liguids the day before, but thats it. Nothing after midnite. I'm trying not to think about it to much.  Getting things done, have my moments when I am scared to death! Have to be at the hospital at 7:30 a.m. How are you holding up???   Cindy

My date is currently February 23 -- a week from tomorrow! My pre-surgery diet consists of minimal carbs to help the liver to shrink and lots of protein. The day before I have nothing but clear liquids. I've already stocked up on protein shakes and chicken broth as well as fish and chicken in the freezer for when I get to solid foods. I've given away all the snacks, breads and crackers and other hi-carb foods.

I've got my fingers crossed that it all goes as scheduled. I was originally supposed to have the surgery in November but the doctor discovered I have a large hiatal hernia so he wanted to do an endoscopy first. When he did he found a lot of inflamation that had to be treated before he could do the surgery. He's going to repair the hernia first and then put the band on. Since it's essentially two surgeries at one time he said I may have to stay overnight which is fine by me. I live alone so it would be nice to be taken care of for one day. If he sends me home a friend has offered to come over and stay overnight the first night.

I getting excited. This is truly a life-changing event. At 63 years old I feel like I'm starting a new life!

Wish me luck.
