My Big Day is Finally Here 2/8/10
It has been a long time coming... but my surgery day is finally here! I am excited/nervous right now as this is the first time I am having surgery. I'm ready my new, healthy life to begin...
We are leaving tonight after the SuperBowl and staying at a hotel near the hospital (it's a couple hours from my house). I have the second suregry time in the morning at 11:00am. I am all packed and ready to go. So right now I am drinking my clear liquids and trying to get over my jitters.
I can't wait to join the Loser's Bench!!!

Hi, I also was a post-Superbowl surgery, the very first one on February 8th at Fair Oaks Hospital after the big blizzard up here in North Virginia/D.C. I originally was scheduled for 10:30 but I happened to call in on Superbowl Sunday to find out if the snow was making it impossible for surgery. That's when they told me I was at 7:30. Thank God it didn't snow that day and they had a chance to work on the 28" of snow that dropped on Friday and Saturday. I was so nervous we wouldn't be able to make it in. I live 35 miles from the hospital and it did take us over an hour to get there. I had to get up at 3:00 in the morning to make it there by 5:30 in the morning.
I had RNY surgery and they let me go on the 2nd day because we were having another blizzard. (Nobody knows how to drive in this stuff in Virginia but we're from Alaska, so we got it covered!) We still barely got home and the ruts in the road from the ice and snow was killing my incisions. But glad I got to come home.
I hope your surgery went well and you are having no problems. I am having a hard time getting in all my liquids and supps. And I gained 9 pounds!
