As we all get ready to have or have recently had surgery. I thought I would post a message for everyone to join in.  So tell me/us:

So what is your ultimate goal?  Did you select it?  Did your Doctor tell you what it would be?  Tell us your stats. Post a before pic if you'd like.

Let's get to know each other as we share this journey.

My doctor has not mentioned goals so I have chosen my own, here goes:

Starting 256
Current 244
Goal 140 - 150

Although I keep seeing that my ideal weight should be around 126  using the link below.

My doctor hasn't give me a goal either. My ideal weight for 5'7" is 145, so 150 will be my ultimate goal...but 175 will be fine too!

Highest weight: 320
Surgery weight 299
Current weight 294
 goal 150

So good luck everybody in reaching your goal!

I am almost EXACTLY like you.  I too am 5'7" with 150 being my goal....however I remember looking and feeling good at 180 a very long time ago.

My highest weight was 326, my starting weight for preop loss was 302 on January 1st and I am already down 29 lbs going into surgery at 273 unless I lose more by the 16th.

I see my surgeon on the 10th so I will ask if he has a goal for me.

Another 5 foot 7 incher here-  180 was a very good time for me too, as I recall (sooooo very long ago).  I was walking daily and lifting  lady sized weights at the gym.  I was told on several ocassions that I had a nice body- by strangers.  So  even though I'm going for 160, I might be satisfied with 180 when I get there.  Good luck to ya!

Great post!

My ultimate goal is between 130lbs - 140lbs. I selected this as my goal. I'm on the low side of 5'6 and currently weigh approx 288lbs. I'm shooting for losing 95 - 100% of my excessive weight. Trying to aim high!  I'll take 150lbs - 160lbs though. Anything higher might be a bit much, but I'm optimistic.

Sheri, we have the same surgery date!

We'll slide on the losers' bench together.

Yea! A surgery friend.  Did you start your pre-op yet?  I start tomorrow. I think it then all become real.  I am anxious and nervous all at the same time.  Good luck.

My surgeon doesn't require a pre-op diet, just the day before surgery I have to drink a bottle of magnesium citrate and stick to clear liquids only. That's it.

Good luck to you as well. We are in for one heck of a ride!!

No Pre-op?  Nice.  I wish that was the case although mine is much more tolerable then those that can do only liquid.  I have to have 4 shakes a day and all the veggies and fat free dressings that i want.  Veggies are easy, better then nothing at all.  Oh and there is the clense the day before

Good luck

I get off easy pre-op, but as a new post-op I will have a 3 week liquid diet. I'm soooo looking forward to that (sense the sarcasm?)! LOL

Even though he hasn't specified a pre-op diet, I have been boosting my protein and getting in fresh pineapples. The enzyme (bromlein?) helps to boost healing. I'm all about the healing!

Oh and the day before cleansing...yea, been there, done that. I had a surgery date of 1/14/10 previously, and found out hours after ingesting that lovely bottle of magnesium citrate that my surgery would be rescheduled. You can imagine my joy. But, it was an experience that will only help me on the Feb. 17th. I know what I have to do. And fortunately, I'm mentally prepared to tackle that.

I do have to get some flushable wipes though....a HUGE help, kwim?
