Hi Cheryl,
Thank you I am looking forward to surgery but nervous too. Its funny you should mention Little Britain, cause I know exactly where that is. Kind of out of the way a little. My dad use to have baseball tournaments there in the summers. I grew up mostly in Oshawa, ON but currently I am living in Niagara Falls, ON. Take care, good luck on your surgery too.

Hi Jen, Welcome to the Club 17. I am so excited for you. Wow Canada, I would love to visit sometime. I live ine Rocklin, CA near Sacramento. I have to do 48 hrs of liquid before surgery not 2 weeks! I will send a prayer for you for endurance and strength. Did you have to lose a certain amount of weight before surgery? Is that your son in the picture? He is a cutie! If you feel like it we would love to hear your story! Mary
Thank you for the welcome. I guess the protocol up here is that we do what is called Optifast. It is a liver shrinking protein shake. Everyone has to do it at least 2 weeks prior to surgery. I was not obligated to lose any weight before surgery but my liver was slightly enlarged and it just makes it easier for the surgeons to do their thing so everyone does the drink. I also can have chicken/beef broth, sugar free jello and sugar free popsicles. Along with water and crystal light. Its not so bad. Then 48 hours before surgery we drop the shakes and only do clear fluids. I think it is helpful because I am gearing myself up for not having a lot of food after surgery.
Yes that is my little man in the picture. Thank you. We think he is pretty cute too. lol.

P.S. I sent you a friend request, and you can read my story on my blog. Take care.

Bless your heart. You made it through with Dr. Patching. He's a rough one. But that was four years ago and I see he now has a nurse case manager to help with vits and stuff. That's great. He had no one to do that before and no one or not even any weight loss plan to help you lose all the weight he required. I had to get a new surgeon who has an entire team to assist patiens and now I, too, and having surgery on the 17th in a town near you. I am very happy for both of us. Good luck and God bless you.
Well, here we go girls, Club 17 is a go tomorrow!!! I am on liquid till the surgery it has not been too bad, only 48 hrs. I will be praying for everyone by name that has responded with the same surgery date. When you are in your hospital bed waiting to go in for surgery juste know you are being prayed for. Lots of love Mary
