Robe, chapstick, lotion (I get an itchy reaction to morphin!),mouthwash, slippers, ipod, panties, sports bra (no underwire), socks, comfy outfit to go home in, address book, cell phone, charger, journal, pillow (to cover stomach when coughing),Some small gifts for my kids when they visit. I also read a cheap watch with timer to help with timing liquid intake. and of course my tolietries.

(I am leaving my jewlery at home and will leave my ipod and cell in the lock box they provide)

best of luck to you!

Have them give you IV benedryl with the morphine...that is if you don't have an allergy to it....it works wonders for me...

Packed very light - what I wore (loose T shirt, sweat pants, socks, undies, tennies) and then in the small bag (clean undies, socks, T shirt for the trip home).  I didn't need slippers or a robe as the hospital provided both and I wore a hospital gown the whole time.  You have IV, perhaps saturation monitor, maybe some oxygen, inflatable leggings for clot prevention, all hooked up post op and the hospital garb is the most flexible item to wear with the snaps to get out of the sleeves if needed.  There is a minor amount of oozing from the incision sites for laproscopy as well so rather have that on a hospital gown which could be changed easily.  I didn't need a pillow, the hospital gave me as many as I wanted.  My purse had anything else I needed, like a brush, cell phone.  I was only in the hospital about 30 hours and didn't feel like doing anything but moving to prevent blood clots or sleeping and getting home.
