Surgery Feb 9th...so excited :)

Hey Guys!!

I just found out that my surgery date is Feb 9th!!! I am so excited/nervous. I don't have a lot of time to prepare. I planned my vacation perfectly. I go on vacation from work on the 29th (super fun cruise), get back on the 6th, have my preop on the 8th, and surgery on the 9th. I won't be back to wor****il March. My doc is giving me 4 or so weeks off since I do heavy lifting at work and I don't want to hurt myself.

I do have a question... What is everyone planning on taking to the hospital??

I was thinking:
Chapstick
PJ's
some magazines
toiletries that smell yummy
pillow for the drive home (kept in the car)
slippers
socks while in bed (my feet get cold)

Anything else I am forgetting??? Not sure but I should start making an official list.

Looks like a complete list.  I will be having same day surgery, but have bought babywipes because I won't be able to shower for a couple of days.
Oh, and the nurse at my preop testing told me to shower with antibacterial Dial soap the day of surgery - so I bought some of that too.

Well congrats on your surgery I think that the 9th is going to be an awesome day. I haven't had my pre-op. We don't have a pre-op appointment until the day before surgery. The only appointments I have had are the initial meeting with the surgeon, psyc, and internist. The day before from what I have heard they give us an antibacterial scrub to use the night before and the morning of. Babywipes may be a good investment... I should add that too my list.

Hey Nathalie, congratulations!!!!! I am so glad that you mentioned packing, my surgery is Feb. 15th and I haven't even thought of what I was going to take!!!!  lol  so nervous, just wanted to go and get it done!!!!Thanks for the heads up though.

My surgery is scheduled for February 23, my little sisters birthday so it should be great. I cant wait to begin this new chapter of my life. I am so ready for the chance to get my health kick started. I am happy happy happy. Also I thought you only stay in the hospital one day, I was not planning to bring anything by clean underwear.

Congrats on your surgery date!!! All surgeons are different but my surgeon keeps you in the hospital for 3 days. The day of surgery you don't even get to drink anything even after they are done. My surgeon thinks that the longer hospital stay is beneficial. I wish you luck in your surgery.

your list looks like my list.  The only thing extra that I am packing is a robe to put over your shoulders when you are still in a hospital gown and need to walk.  Good Luck!!

Oh yeah I should get one of those. I forgot about that... and I should know better since I am cold all the time.
