OK, February peeps!
Hi everyone! My surgery date is Feb. 1st!! I was originally scheduled for 1/11 but a couple of days before my surgery, I got a phone call from my surgeon stating that they had to postpone my surgery because the surgeon had some family emergency. I was really upset at first, but it is in God's hands.
I can relate to all of you...a mixture of excitement and nervousness. I already had all my stuff done, vitamins purchased, prescriptions for iron, etc, filled, my hospital bag was packed. My approval letter from the insurance company was received, etc. So now I have to wait 3 extra weeks. But at least I don't have to do anything but relax and keep myself as busy as possible so that hopefully the time will go by quickly.
I only have to do liquids 4 days before my surgery. I have been on a healthy lifestyle since November, 2008, way before I decided to have the surgery. I gave up fried foods, red meat, etc, and added exercise to my routine. When my surgeon checked my liver, he said it was healthy so thankfully I did not need to do a two-week shrink the liver liquid diet. The problem is that I have only lost 46 pounds which is just a drop in the bucket of what I need to lose to be a healthy weight and lower my blood pressure. I'm hoping the surgery will enable me to lose ALL of the weight so I can get off the blood pressure medicines.
Congratulations to all of you who have received your surgrery dates! This is going to be a great year for all of us!

Howdy All,
I am scheduled for a VSG on Feb 10th. I am trying to lose the weight I gained over the holidays when I indulged in too many "Last Suppers". My surgery was originally supposed to be in early December but due to financial reasons I had to postpone till Feb. I went into a bit of a depression over it but now that the surgey is close I am feeling renewed. Focusing on what I will be eating post-op and getting that together is helping me feel better to the point that my nervousness is to turning to excitement. Of course, I am still plenty anxious. This is the first time that I have had surgery and stayed in a hospital.
It is so helpful to have these wonderful forums that I find so supportive and informative.
Well, January is half over already. We'll be on the losers' bench in no time.

2010 will definately be my year!! Surgery date is set for 02/04/10!! Exactly 2 months from when i first called to start my appointments. Everything has been going so fast, which I am pretty nervous. I've been researching the surgery for years, so I suppose it's been a longer journey than I thought. Anyways, any ideas of what to pack? hm. Good luck surgery buddies!!
I am scheduled for February 16th. One minute I want this over with now, the next minute I don't want to go through with it.
My MD has not specifically given me a preop diet, I just decided to do it on my own and have managed to lose 15 lbs since the 1st of the year on Atkins. I just figured that the more I can lose, the safer my surgery will be.
How is everyone else is doing?
