Topic: Wondering
I have noticed a lot lately that many of us have had some issues about the change in our bodies. How we look at ourselves and what we are working towards. Self sabotage is in some blogs and I have noticed I am not the only one who worries about the final outcome. Many changes have taken us to where we are now and many of us have had the opportunity to regain our health our lives and also happiness that we have not had before. I find that changes do take a minute to recognize and allow us to believe. It takes me to go back and look at my month to month photos to actually believe I have lost any weight. At times I still see myself as the Fat Obese Woman that I was pre-op. At times I can see myself as I am now. My fiance' tells me I need to get clothes that fit me because the crotch is hanging down to my knees. I did clean out my closet and I have given away four bags of clothes. I at times feel like getting thinner can or may bring me problems. But at other times I feel like I was looking to get healthy and I allow the changes. This at times messes with my head and I am sure I am not the only one that feels the way I do.
How have your changes allowed you to overcome any obstacles and what is it that you may still be working on to achieve your goal? I look forward to hearing from you all and to see what you overcame and what you still need to adjust to.

Topic: 9 MONTHS (ok, I'm a week late)
Hello surgery sisters (and brothers)! I wanted to post this on the 9th, which would have been my 9 month surgiversary, but it was a hectic day.
Post Op appointment->All labs were excellent, and my doc is very pleased with my progress. I am down from 331 to 179. That is 79% of my excess weight lost. I am officially OVERWEIGHT. I hit the gym about 4 times per week , ran my first 5K, with another one this upcoming weekend. I am wearing size 12/14 top, and size 16 jeans (they are a bit loose). That is a huge (pardon the pun) difference from a 3x top and 28 jeans/leggings!
Nutrition-wise, I am off all meds, except for OTC supplements (Calcium Citrate, multivitamin, sublinqual b-12).
My cholesterol went from 257 to 124. I average 800-900 calories per day, with an average of 100 grams of protein. I drink a TON of water/liquids and have re-discovered herbal teas. I have my last consult with my NUT on the 18th.
It hasn't been easy, but it hasn't been terribly hard either. I am anxious to get to my goal of 145, which I anticiapte hitting in April. I am also keeping a cautious or maybe wary feeling at the forefront of my mind, so as to not backslide (too much). My biggest fear is that I will be one of those statisitics, albeit small statistics, that gains back quite a bit of weight after two years or so. So...I keep that little bit of fear up front....as a reminder to what I have sacrificed and gained to get where I am right now.
The 9th was also my Dad's birthday . As many of you may recall, he passed away last December 29th. It was kinda weird on the 9th, mom and I went to my post op appt., then the cemetary with some flowers and plants, then to lunch. While at lunch I had to, of course, go to the bathroom. I took a long look at my face in the mirror. Then I saw it....
The thinner my face gets, the more my eyes stand out, and the more I look like my dad. It made me smile and cry at the same time.
ok..enough of that....
I truly hope you are all doing well, stepping over any obstacles (wearing smaller and sexier shoes no doubt!) and having a fabulous month!
Hugs to all-
Kathy

Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.

It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Plantain is definitely great I am right there with you. I hope we are not slowing down like this because I am almost at the one year mark. Keeping the faith and looking forward to seeing the scale move once again. I did the cracker and cheese thing as well and I have stopped and replaced it with veggies and fruit.

I am doing it just until Thanksgiving then I will be eating on a reg again. I just feel I lost track some how and I wanted to see if I could get back on. The first two days was kinda hard and last night I went out and I didn't get a chance to eat until 10:00 p.m. and I felt absolutely miserable until this morning. So I think the two week or less will help me out.

Good Morning! I am at a stall right now too, and I'm trying not to "carbo-tage" myself. :) I realized I was doing the cheese and crackers thing too much too. You are doing great, I know it's hard to stop eating @ 5:30. Oh yeah, I love plantain too. I have been eating 3oz. chicken with planatain and 1/4 mango...Yum!

I dont see a problem with it as long as its not dont on a daily basis right?! I currently doing the 5 day pouch test, i am day 4... the first 2 days are strickly protien shakes/ water extra... I did it because i was on a plateau long enough and i was starting to graze on carbs like crackers... I have lost 5 pounds during this period... its not the weight loss, i did it to help me get back on track with weight loss being a plus. However the first to days was horriable for me, I had headachs and cramps(carb withdrawls), I am glad its over with and I doubt i will personally will ever do it again, well the first to days, I will definitly throw in a meal there like supper. Urggg I hate plateaus or stalls whatever we call em, I hate em. I am so close, just have to push harder now!

This is how my day went yesterday.
Protein bar....Shake for breakfast...Shake for lunch...apple for snack and then I can home and ate my dinner which was ribs potatoes and plantains. I drank a couple of 20 ounce bottles of water to. I stopped eating by 5:30 p.m. but continued to drink liquids until 10:00 p.m. It was a bit hard for me but it was the first day. I feel I fell off track somewhere and I wanted to get myself back on.
I am at a stall and wanted to try what I needed to do two weeks before the surgery to see if I could get the scale moving again. Plus I feel I always don't get in all my protein. This way I know I am getting in all my protein and my system I feel will be flushed out and getting myself back on track.
Start weight 276
weight now 191
total wight lost 85 pounds and many inches
Goal weight 145
