I was reading all your post and I think your the lucky ones, I had my surgery on Feb. 18th 09 and I had complications. My area where the doctor connected my stomach to my intestines was to tight which is a stricture from there everything went down hill can't eat or drink since 2/17, was back in hospital for dehydration, have a PICC line in my arm where I'm being fed intravenous with this 2 liter bag of something that look like ensure straight to my heart, have home nurses etc., I used all my sick time at work now using vacation time. I was so happy to get this operation at first but at this time I feel so sad that I was one of the 2% statistic you hear about. I'm trying my best to hang in there but it is so hard. I plug myself up everyday , trying to make myself feel like this is just a hurtle but really depressed for real. Trying to keep a good face for my 17 year old who's having a hard time with it but reassuring him I'm fine. My husband is trying too. The line that they put in my arm developed some kind of block so now they ordered this stuff that they use on heart patient at a low dose to flush this thing I am really stressing. Had another out patient surgery on 3/18/09 EGD (dilated my anastamosis) stricture. I can at lease drink 1 oz water now every hour. I know my insurance is trippin right now I received the bills that was paid so far for the 5 days in the first time bill was 35,000,anesthesia 900.00,plus all the doctor visits 1000.00+, ER+ another 5 day stay 14,000, another surgery, Home nurse care, delivery of all these meds $$$$$$$$$ and still not done this is my 5Th week out , I lost and gained from fluid not by any food. I'm just trying to get my health back now. I would love to lose weight but that's on the back burner now. So please enjoy the pounds your losing and the muscle your gaining and your health and strength you all are doing great because it could be worst.

Are you chewing really, really well? Do you find it is a flavor, texture or how it feels in your pouch thing?
Just curious because I chew everything really, really well and have not had a problem except the one time I didn't--then--oh God that was horrible.

I'm 4 weeks out - on "regular" foods and I"m having such a hard time with meat. Chicken and beef make me feel SO sick. Oddly enough the only meat I've had the past few days that didn't make me feel ill for over an hour is ham. Who would have thought? I even threw some drum sticks in the crock pot with mushroom soup all day and it didn't sit well. I give up! I guess I'll live the rest of my life on protein drinks (which make me want to puke) and South Beach cereal bars!
I like to bring soups and beef jerky. Beef jerky has a lot of protein in it. I like it because I don't have to heat anything up and can grab a bite every once in a while. I also took a small chimichanga that costs about $.40 and it took about and hour or more to eat that, but it had good protein in it. I'm with you on the eggs and beans. I've been taking my time in the store to look for other things that have protein in it. Now I don't feel so restricted. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I asked Dr. S the same thing. I thought I should have lost more by my six week chekup and he said I was doing great. I was only down 24 pounds according to their scale. From my heaviest I just wweighed this morning and I'm down 33 pounds. I did have a stall there for a couple of weeks, but then I started to drink more and I don't think I was getting enough to eat and added a little more and then I saw the scale start to move. maybe you just need to add a little more to eat. It is said that if you don't eat enough your body will go into starvation mode. So make sure you're drinking and eating enough. I try so hard not to get on the scale but I think it keeps me on trac****ep it in the bathroom and get on it right before I get in the shower. Maybe your time of the month has something to do with it too. Like someone else said I can blow up the week before but the week after I can drop 5 pounds. You will get there. I haven't yet hit the gym but I have a few friends who want to join me. Not anyone who has had WLS but they need the gym time, so they asked if they could join me. I hope to start on Monday. We'll see how that goes, since I don't get all my protein in. I do get dizzy from time to time so I'll have to be a little careful. I wish you nothing but the best and you'll get through this stall.

I have recently became addicted to chicken nuggets from wendys...they are 12g protein and like 160 calories....( a little higher on the calories than i would like...but i can get them down)
I am so over beans.....I dont want anything to do with eggs....and i dont eat fish.
Any ideas?? Ladies I NEED HELP!!
Remember that you are still VERY NEW. Also, if you are working out, then you are building muscle. Muscel weighs more than fat (seriously). When my daughter starts training hard for basketball, soccer and track, she ends up gaining about 5 to 10 lbs. in muscle. Then when sports season is over, and she is just playing around, she goes back down. You are probably building some muscle....so don't get disheartened. It will start coming off again. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning in
It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.
