Hi there Missy,

Please Oh please dont let me hear you say "Your Horrible" again.  You are in a race to win.  You are victorious and a fighter.  The last thing you are is horrible...

You are NOT alone.  I understand feeling guilty about things I've done, so I'm not trying to throw stones or say its not hard.  We are all just trying to learn that ALL the rules have changed or else a huge consequence.

Please know that I pray you will be encouraged.  You have reached out in such honesty.  I hope you know by sharing our weak times, proves the journey can be a struggle, but you pick yourself back up and if you cant, you reach out just like you did.  I hope I will be as open as you.  You are a blessing.

Take Care,  Pam

Hi!  Just say your question and thought I'd respond.  The first few months I didn't want to eat either.  When you have the sleeve, you don't have the same type of hunger you had before because you aren't producing the ghrelin hormone (that was produced in the part of the stomach they removed).  And because I could only eat a couple bites before I was full, and I couldn't even drink much liquid - only small sips or it was uncomfortable, and I was full so quickly - I just didn't want to bother with eating.  You are pretty much suppose to eat the same foods as with the other surgeries, although lap banders can usually eat more of a variety.  And each surgeon is different in what they want you to follow with regards to what you are eating.  My surgeon says absolutely no breads, pastas or starches - EVER!  And never more than a cup of food 3 times a day - but you are suppose to replace one of your meals with a protein shake (he wants us to use Metagenics Bariatrix Meal Replacement) that is 30 grams of protein - and that is for the rest of your life because it has a lot of nutrients in it as well as the protein and it is specially designed for bariatric patients.  As far as people eating fast foods, etc. - I know what you mean.  I hear people talking about that all the time, and part of me is amazed that they think this is so great - that is what got us where we are in the first place, and if we went through all we did to have this surgery, why would you be glad to eat like that again.  For myself, I'm afraid if I start eating those foods again (which are my trigger foods), I won't be able to stop - and I'll gain back what I've lost.  I also know, that those foods (carbs) turn to sugar as soon as they enter your body, and sugar makes you crave more food.  So, I am trying hard to avoid them.  Not that I haven't slipped occasionally; I have had a half piece of whole grain bread, or a few saltine crackers.  And yes, I had a hard time stopping - the main thing that made me stop was that I was full already - and then there is no room for the protein!  I try to concentrate on proteins - cottage cheese, yogurt, lean deli meats, low-fat cheese, low fat refried beans, and sometimes I can tolerate a few bites of chicken or ground turkey - but that's the majority of my food.  Hang in there - it does get easier.
