Are we done at 12 months??
So here is the situation....I have about 50lbs to go til I hit goal weight and I am almost 9 months out Ive lost 94lbs which I am very thankful for...HOWEVER....I went in to see my nutritionist and she said that I am gonna need to step it up if I want to meet my goal because my "window is closing" and that we are basically done losing weight at 12 months....WTF!!!!! Im freaking out because now I feel like a total faliure because I am once again not going to reach my goal and I'm out of time...I thought we had 18-24 months sooooo what now? Am I doomed? Am I done? Was all this for nothing? what have you guys heard?
So I hope we are not done at 12 months because I am 8 months out or almost 8 1/2 months out and 101 down.... I still have.... about 104 to make my goal of 150 so... I sure hope not....
The time line as I understood it was that the quickest weight loss happens then (in the perverbial window of time) but that we will continue to loose... and we will have to make sure we walk and exercise and eat right to continue the process. It will be a bit more "difficult" and harder earned but it will come.
I believe that I will continue to work toward my goal and even though the weight has already started to slow down I conitnue to evaluate what I am eating and my exercise program to keep things moving. I am reminded by my friends that even when the scale is not moving the inches are. To me that has equaled less sagging and more toning! I don't have a lot of sag and hang that many of us get. I truly believe that is because I have been going to the gym faithfully since I was able to go after surgery.
Don't despair you are not done until you decide you are done. Don't compare yourself to others. Walk your journey. Work with your body and your nutritionist, psychologist and weight clinic/center. They will help you achieve your goal!

That is so not true! The biggest metabolic advantage is in the first 18-24 months. The tool works for life.
Your body gets more efficient on fewer calories which makes loosing slow down as you get further out. It does not mean the window has closed. You have to be careful to eat enough to loose slowly without eating so little that you slow down your metabolism.
I try never to eat less than 80% of my rmr. I cannot afford to further slow my metabolism.
