Fear not M.S.W. ! ! The Research and Statistics Queen is here:

RNY is considered successful if at the 6 month post op mark, the patient has a 50% or better EWL (excess weight loss).

Now that may  not be your surgeons definition of success, but industry -wide, that is the mark to meet.  So buck up baby! I think you are doing beautifully!!

P.S. Hot weather still gives me kankles...but I am celebrating them, CUZ NOW I CAN SEE THEM AND ACTUALLY TOUCH THEM WITH MY HANDS!!

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning in
Africa, a lion wakes up.
It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Mary - I'm still right here with you girl!!!  I was about to PM you and I say that you had posted this and decided to respond here instead.  I'm still up the 6 lbs from my cheesecake and M&Ms binge.  Ridiculous!!!!  Some of it has to be fluid!!!!  Anyway it has helped me to increase (more likely really start) my exercise routine.

I made it 30 minutes on the Wii yesterday.  Walking, aerobics and hola hoop.  Boy, that hola hoop will wear you out!!!  I did it twice and did around 150 loops in 2 minutes each time.  I worked up the biggest sweat from that!!!

Let's just continue to stay in touch.  WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!

Hey Sabrina!
Glad you got your exercise in yesterday.  I made excuses about doing laundry and chose not to do my exercise. BUT today is a new day and Im feeling a little better.

Thanks to Gina (Butterfly618) sharing some info with me...I am going to try to eat more protien this week and see if that helps. Ive been trying to cut the carbs some, but I have this need for a bite of sweet after I eat dinner. I solved that by getting a mixed bag of SF Russell Stovers candy. I find one or two pieces does the trick for me.

Luckily, I dont have a problem digesting it! Yay! LOL

I will get my exercise tonight by starting to straighten up the back yard for our party on Saturday. Ive already taken out some fish (almond crusted talipia) from the freezer for dinner and I'll make steamed broccoli to go with it.

Im trying to drink lots of water with fresh lemon slices to help get rid of any excess water too.

We'll beat this darn it!!

Hmmm...I haven't thought of the water with lemon.  I'll have to give that one a try tomorrow. I normally go out for lunch, so that will save me a lot of money if I drink lemon water with my lunch!!!   I didn't get my exercise in tonight, so don't feel too bad about yesterday.

I also am going to try the SF Russell Stovers candy because I have the same problem with the wanting something sweet after meals.  I crave them after lunch and dinner.

I have fallen in love with Talipia, that's what I had for lunch today!!!

Good luck with your exercise and dinner tonight.  Talk to you tomorrow.

Hi Mary,

You can not compare your results to others. Yes I have lost a lot since surgery BUT...I started with a very high BMI  almost 60! So weight comes off a little faster.
I have had struggles recently basically I guess you could call them the months of June and July...lol I had gained back about 6 or 7 lbs at one point. Working against the Band and eating poorly.
At that point I decided to go to a local support group offered by my surgeon and the psychologist he has teamed up with.
I think it made a world of difference to me I was able to recommit myself to the "program" and the weight started to come back off.
The other thing that really got me back on track was a horrific stuck episode. I thought I did some damage to myself as I was hurting for a few days after. All is well though and I learned my lesson.
Hang in there and the weight will come off.  Just remember that everyone is different!

Your not the only one.  I went thru periods where I too was so depressed and didn't think this was going to work.  But, I guess I'm lucky.  I haven't had any "known" sugar since surgery.  I did go on a vacation and had drinks.  I paid dearly for that.

What Mike says is true too.  You can't compare yourself to others (I know easier said than done.)  Also, people starting with a higher BMI would have an advantage in the weight loss journey.  The closer to your body's goal weight the harder it gets.  Hang in there and keep plugging along!

Im finally starting to feel a little better. Once I found out exactly what food plan I was supposed to follow, it seems like my light has finally turned on. I hope it keeps shining bright

Its like I finally REMEMBERED why I got the band. Its not a magic wand, its a tool. I remembered when I decided to have the surgery that I knew that then! I knew it was a tool and I had to work with it. It was like I was finally hearing things instead of just listening. Just eating smaller portions of the same crap is going to keep me at this weight. Eating smaller portions of the good stuff is what gets the weight off. DUH! I know this...I dunno, its hard to explain! lol

I dont know what happened, who smacked me or what...but I hope to keep the momentum going!
