5 month Surgiversary

So today is my 5 month post-op. I'm feeling fabulous. I haven't been online much, as I've been at my mom's (she had hernia surgery 10 days ago, and I've been staying with her till her post op appointment Friday).

Anyway, I am now officially 100 lbs. down from my highest (week before surgery) ! ! !  I feel wonderful, and even though the loss is slowing down a bit, still averaging about 3 or 4 lbs. per week. No big or  major complications!

NSV -> I was sitting at my mom's last nigh****ching a movie, and then looked down. I ABOUT JUMPED OUT OF THE CHAIR!!! MY LEGS WERE CROSSED!!! not at the ankle or calves, but MY THIGHS WERE CROSSED!!!!

Well, something to blog about later.

Hope all you other Feb. 9'ers are doing well, and happy.

Hugs to all-
Kathy

Thats fantastic.  Good for you.

You've gotta tell me what you're doing cause I'd kill to get to your slowed down rate of wl.  What do you eat in a typical day?  How much exercise do you get?

My progress remains dissapointing.  I've lost about half as much as you have and each pound was like having a wisdom tooth extracted plus I'd regain and get to do it all over again.  Right now I'm 11.5 lbs behind schedule if I'm to meet the goal for my six month visit.

Its not for the lack of trying.  I'm doing aerobics and weights six days a week, and my choice of a video, usually circuit training on Sundays.  95% of the time I get in all of my protein vits and water and I watch my calories (not too litle or too much ).  Still its a struggle.
Please share your secret! (Or bottle it and sell it, lol.)

I've done a little better in the past few weeks.  No body fat  gain but a two week stall instead along with some plain old water weight.  I never expected this to be easy but I did not expect to struggle if I followed the rules.

Everyone is different, and lose at different rates. With that said, it sure the heck doesn't make it easier when things  slow down!
My average caloric intake is 560. My protein is right around 60. My water exceeds the daily suggested by 2 x's at least.
My workouts are generally 5 x's per week, but at the least every other day (while I am mom-sitting). I have been spending 1/2 hour on an elliptical then 1/2 hour on a bike. Or 1/2 hour bike or elliptical THEN about 15 minutes of weights.
If I am crunched for time, I just hit the bike for half hour, with a high resistancy.

You're so right 'every one is different' is probably the most useless stand alone comment I see on these boards.   With nothing for comparison, there's no practical guidance which is what most people are looking for.  The only frequent comment of less value is 'you're not ready for surgery' as though one can tell from the limited info in a single post.

Thanks for sharing your routine.  I've found I do best at around 1125 calories, a few hundred under my resting metabolic rate.  Its hard to eat that much within my nutritionists plan so I blew that away and started my own diet.

Under 900 calories I head into starvation response.  When I was eating 450-600 I gained weight like a compulsive overeater.  That blew my mind especially since I could not eat much.  I get 100 oz liquids a day and of course all my supplements.

I do 90 min of aerobics (usually bike and eliptical)  and half hour weights plus stretching six days a week.  On Sundays its lighter but minimum 30 min aerobics/ weight circut training.  I always have a calorie deficit since I burn 1200-1500 in exercise.  Still, my metabolism and medicationd work against me. I thought wls would improve this but I was so wrong.

Still, no regrets.  I've lost 50 in 4 1/2 months.  It took around 5 years to loose the first 50 pre wls.
