How many Feb banders do we have left here??????????
Hi,
I still lurk on this board ocassionally. Tomorrow, I will be 5 months post op and I have only lost 35 lbs. I have been at a stall for the last month or so. I have restriction, I've been exercising, but I keep losing and gaining the same 5 lbs. I knew that the weight loss would be slow, but I didn't think it would be this slow.

Hi Tiffany!
I so understand you! I get so close to moving down another number than up she goes, over and overI have only lost 36 post surgery. I knew it would be slow. I have averaged 1.9 pounds per week and you are about the same too. I just had hope it would be fast early out and slow down to 1-2 pounds per week.
If you look at what all here, 30's is the average. Some are more and some less.
Keep the faith! We need to keep coming and supporting each other.

So glad I found this thread! I had lapband surgery 2/4/09 and have only lost 30 pounds. I need to drink more water and get my butt moving. I've just felt like crap and haven't been up to exercising but I'm just going to have to put on my big girl panties and push through the pain. I finally have some good restriction (I hope it lasts longer this time, just got a fill 4 days ago) so I hope I'll have a good loss in the next month.
I have been thinking -- if you look at the lapbanders like Amanda's 178 pound loss, and Kernie's huge loss -- they drink a RIDICULOUS amount of water. All that fat has to have somewhere to go, and I assume it gets expelled through our urine and probably our pores when we sweat, is that right? So if I'm not drinking enough water, which I don't think I am, the fat isn't getting "washed" out, right? What do you guys think? Should we really focus on our water and see what happens? I swear I think that's logical. I KNOW I can't drink 200 oz. a day, but I'm nowhere near 100 oz. a day so I think I'll make that my goal, and to get my ass moving... my food intake is okay I think so maybe if I can flush the fat out....
Thoughts?!

Someone on the Lapband board found this answer:
Where does body fat go when you lose weight?
Answer from Katherine Zeratsky, R.D., L.D.
When you consume fewer calories than your body needs, your body turns to fat for energy. Your fat cells (triglycerides) provide the fuel for this energy.
Through a series of complex metabolic processes, triglycerides are broken down into two different components — glycerol and fatty acids — which are absorbed into your liver, kidney and muscle. Here, these components are further broken down by chemical processes that ultimately produce energy for your body.
The heat generated through these activities is used to help maintain your body temperature. The waste products that result are water and carbon dioxide. You excrete water primarily in urine and sweat and carbon dioxide in air exhaled from your lungs.
