February Peeps...I need some encouragement!

I had surgery one day before yours and have also lost 41 pounds.  I've been deeply frustrated by this; I had lost 40 pounds on my own before surgery...41 pounds after $50k+ of major surgery just doesn't seem right.

I've heard the theory that larger people lose faster but that's not how it's working for me (I weighed 381 lb the day of surgery).  The worst part of it is that I'm starting to get de-motivated and getting very tempted to cheat; but for the most part I'm following all the rules.  I'm drinking at least 80oz of water every day, getting 60-75g of protein.  My calories are typically in the 600-700 range each day and 3/4 of that is protein (as shown in the pie chart on Livestrong's Daily Plate).  I ride a stationary bike several times a week (doing the Hill Climber setting at level 7) and do a very vigorous weight training program twice a week.  Even with all of that, I'm only losing about a pound a week.

I try to console myself with the thought that this slow weight loss will give my skin more time to react and I’ll need less plastic surgery (fingers crossed).  I’m seeing my surgeon and nutritionist on Monday and will see what they have to say.

Yeah, I feel good and am losing inches but that doesn’t really make this any easier – the glacially slow loss kicks up all kinds of old emotional baggage about being a weight loss failure.  I’ve still got 160 pounds to lose and don’t know if this, my last desperate attempt at weight loss,  will get it done.

Hey Steph,

I was at a standstill right out of the gate.  Turns out I was not eating enough.  Upped cal count to 800-900 and started loosing very slowly.  Nut says 800-900 starting month two, doc says 1000 but I think that was because I was eating some days less than 500.

I need prot supplements to get so much in but its better than zero loss.

I asked my Nut about calories and she said to not worry about them - just to focus on getting the protein in.  I specifically asked about adding in extra calories to make up for those workouts and she said not to.

I'm definately going to push the point when I see them again on Monday,

I appreciate all the support - without you guys I'd be even more freaked out about this,.
